OK, I know this is a lil Off Topic, but am curious as
to what you guys have experienced...

I guess you could say I'm a hot sauce lover, the med-hot to hot kind
not the roll over and kill me 'cause my heads about to explode stuff.

I had an experience about 1 year ago with the latter on chicken wings that were so called Inferno...My ass still hurts and my face still distorted. :D I should have known cause the 'heat' was put into the wing mix w/ an eye dropper.

Anyways, what level of 'heat' made you run in circles and what sauce do you enjoy the best? I figure this may bring out a little humor in the forum and what a better way to get mouths watering a week before Superbowl... ;)

I haven't tried any of the pure cap stuff-- you know, the stuff that comes in small bottles with eyedroppers.

The hottest regular sauce I've had is the Da Bomb sauces. Ground Zero is their hottest.

My favorite underrated hot sauce is Spontaneous Combustion. It's excellent stuff.

I also love the hot wings sauce you speak of. It's called Dan T's Inferno. I now like to make my own wings sauce, but before I did, the Dan T's Inferno was the best stuff around. It's awesome.

I collect hot sauces and love hot food.

I have a bottle of El Yucateco green habenaro chili salsa in my truck, dinner table, and coat pocket at all times.

15 years ago I'd tried them all- all I could find. Since then, it boils down to the Yucatecho and the Rooster brand Chile Sambal Oelek. Oh, also Rooster brand Sriracha hot chili sauce. (best on pizza)

The hottest isn't as interesting as the tastiest.

munk

I have to agree with Munk here. I love hot sauces but never tried any of the super hot ones.
And like my beloved lemons I can't eat hot sauces or peppers like I used to.
The best I can do now is the mild at our favorite Thai restaurant, but that's good enough.:D

I was going to pick up a jar of either Da Bomb or Smack my @SS... in Saratoga (there's a 'hot shop' there).

Komondor, So that's what those flames are from I see over the mountains...:D

I agree Munk...just mixed my own jalapeno/habanero concoction tonite.
It's not unbearably hot, and it tastes pretty good.

For those that like it HOT, or hot and tasty, I recommend these: WildPepper.Com
A word of caution, his discriptions can be a bit on the understatement side, if you are new to the hot sauce club.

When I lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands back in the early seventies, I got turned on to a little old lady who lived at the end of a dirt track up in the hills and made what, so far as I know, was the world's hottest sauce. It came in recycled baby food jars, looked like chewed tobacco, and I used to season a gallon of stew by dipping a fork in the stuff vertically, putting the fork into the stew, and stirring well. Plenty hot!

At a party this weekend, I had some "****ing Hot Sauce". If interested, I can ask the maker, etc. It comes with a lable that goes into detail about "...****ing hot sauce. This sauce contains...and is the hottest ****ing sauce made. No **it, this is ****ing hot." and so on.

Ya know what? It was ****ing hot!

Nasty, that's funny 'cause I've got an open (eBay) window with that
sauce...I was laughing my @ss off reading the label...:D
Thought of gettin' a bottle for Dad.
I like the part about: "don't be afraid to let it out. Scream f***at the top of your lungs. You'll feel better...":D :D

in buffalo NY during the hot wing festival.. there are about 20 different levels of hot

the hottest wings on that list are called "revenge" wings... they are so hot that you cry while they go in and while they come out the next day.

the hottest sauce ive ever had of the "in the bottle" type ... is a brand callled "hotter than hell sauce"... it was SO hot that it says on the instructions not to put in direct contact with skin for more than a few seconds.

BOTH were very hot. ;)

Some stuff called "Endorphin Rush" I was at a party and we were having Enchiladas made with Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. You could dip a chopstick in the stuff and dab it on the enchiladas and they would rock your world. Second would be some that I made from ground up Habaneros I grew and vinegar.

I have a bottle of that stuff and all I can say is that to describe it as "hot" is a gross understatement. I doubt the surface of the sun is any hotter. :D

As always in all things I'm with munk ~ el Yucateco all the way! The absolute hottest that I know of is Dave's Insanity Sauce. You darn near need a gas mask when you open the bottle so that your lungs don;t sponteously cumbust and your eyes fall out. We grow serranos, habaneros, thai chilis etc... No comparison. Dave's is like pure cap! I think that they should rename it Satan's Secretion! After using for a week I jacked up my gut so bad I couldn't even put black pepper on my food for a month, no lie. Buy it to give to someone you don't like, but don't use it yourself!

stevo

I read a little while back about a new pepper discovered in India that's supposed to make a Habenero look like a bell pepper.
I'm afraid to say almost but think it is rated at 500k Scoville units.
Wish I could recall where I read it, may have been on one of the Ring of Fire's sites.:o :(
I know I couldn't hardly believe there is a pepper -that- hot. Hell I would be afraid to even pick them!!!!

When I was a kid my dad would tell us a story to get us laughing about the "Gooney Bird" who all he ate was peppers so he flew backwards to keep his *sshole cool.

I hadn't thought about that story for years till one year I was at a Bluegrass festival drinking Chili beer(has a habanero in each bottle) and eating hotwings the whole weekend.

The story gained a whole new relevance for me after that.

HD, does that mean your method of locomotion involved reverse after that?;) :D

When you gonna send that khuk to me for sharpenin? Sorry for the thread hijack attempt, don't mind me.

This is a good thread!:D

The red and green El Yucateco sauces are good habanero sauces, very hot, but edible. They also make this brown stuff: El Ycateco XXX hot salsa that kicks ass. It is in a league with the hottest of the hot, but only costs a couple of bucks. If you put more than four drops on a couple of eggs, it will have you gasping for air.
