I hope this question doesnt offend anyone, I am just curious how many mixed marriages we have.
I have a japanese wife.
What do you have ?

Danny, neat thread! I probably won't have a mixed marrage, but if the right girl came along. ;) - when I first got up and read the post, I had to reread it cause I thought at first you were talking about Poligamy. :footinmou It's a Utah thing.

I have a very mixed marriage- but I suppose you meant marrying another race?

edit- actually, my brother married a black gal. Except she's not really black....only her skin is. He and she are elitists- they met in CalTech. HE hasn't spoken to me in years because I'm an NRA member and married a christian. In a larger sense, he thinks my marriage is far more 'mixed'.

I've had two.
My first wife was Japanese.
My worst wife was blonde.
My best wife is great.

My wife is Caribbean Indian, which means her racial background is an India Indian. Our families have been very accepting of each other - at least now they are.

I will never forget the first time I went to one of her family's parties, with all her extended family, about 40 or so total, in a part of NYC where I was the only lighter skinned anything. I walked in, and just like out of a movie, it was dead silent. Then, her aunt from the kitchen, stirring a HUGE pot of chicken, said something in Trini Indian dialect like "Come on in.....(couldn't understand the rest)" and the party started up again. :)

At first, some of her family members were ready to come to blows. I think the word got out that I played with big knives and they decided to leave me alone. In the end, her brother and I became friends, earning each other's deepest respects. Her family nicknamed me "Crocadile Dundee" because I was living in NYC with her, and definetly out of place. Yes, I did strap on a HI khukuri and walk down the street in NY before... our neighbors didn't have a problem with us either after that.

There are some advantages, I can't understand much of what her mother says! :D :D :D

I'm marrying a nice German/Irish girl (Great cook, holds her liquor, but a heck of a temper;)). However, i don't have any problem with mixed marriages. I'm a bit of a euro-mutt myself. Irish, german, french, english, and a good chunk of Cherokee once my family made their way over to the states. I figure if my family wasn't picky about races, nations, or creeds, then why should i be woried about it. People are people and we can't pick the ones we love. good thread, DIJ.

Would marrying a little person/height challenged/midget, be considered mixed?

I just asked my wife and she said if my options were yes,no,and maybe then go ahead and select --yes ---as most of the things I do are mixed. :grumpy:

Never could understand a single word she said but she always has some mighty fine wine. Joy. ;)

My wife is from Mumbai (Bombay) India, her parents both from India too.
I call her my "Indian princess"
We met there while I was practicing medicine in Poona, India in the 90's.
I've lived all around the world and had relationships with different woman from different countries, I married the one I was still in love with after the "honeymoon"....only took me 52 years to find her.

My wife is mostly American ndn (as Yvsa would say), with the small remainder being French. Technically Flathead ndn from Montana / Southern Canada, but we know that there is some Blackfoot in her lineage as well. Not surprising as the two tribes were very close.

I married her simply because she was the calmest, most spiritually at peace person I had ever met, and seemed to have an infinite capacity to put up with my type A behavior. She used to run an easy 10 miles per day, and her BP is so low doctor's think their instruments are broken. Her cholesterol level is _19_. I know that she will far outlive me; her ancestors are extremely tough and long-lived (her father drank a bit too much, ate whatever he liked, and smoked two packs a day of non-filtered Camels for over 60 years and _still_ lived until almost 81.) I worry about that only because I know she will be on her own for quite a while after I check out.

Anyway, it's been 20 years now, and I have to say I've been lucky. Luckier than I deserve at any rate!

Regards,

Norm

My wife's a neat freak;
& I only clean up after I lose track of which pile it's in,
or can't reach the pile for all the other piles.

I'm a Yankee and she's from Texas, while I'm a brunette and she's blond. Does that make us mixed or just even us out???

Nasty,

I know that feeling.

I'm a Southerner, she's a yankee.

I've very conservative. She isn't.

I'm Methodist, shes Presbyterian

I'm type A at work and C at home

She's Type A at home and C at work.

Yep we are mixed :) But I still think it's relative.
