OT: How many of you carry a P-38 can opener?

For those of you who carry 'em on a key chain, have you figure out how to keep 'em from poking you all the time?

One wrap of electric tape around the beak.

Or just find one a bit stiffer in the pivot.

I also have one from K rations in 1962 that was given to me and my brother by my Dad. What a coincidence!:p

I´ve never seen an original but copies are often found here in Mexico, some are bad, some are quite good, I have several and usually carry one on a keyring, I have a small magnet that hangs there too and keeps it closed.

I've carried one like this since the day of my first Airborne jump in jump school in 1984. I pulled it from the c-rations we ate for lunch that day.

I have used it many times. :D

Back when I had one all the time, I'd either put an o-ring around it, or just some tape. Wasn't like I had to do quick-draw can-opening or anything....

I've looked for years, and can't find the good heavy duty true Korean war strong ones any more, just the mass produced crap they sell now.

ANy suggestions for the heavier steel ones?

Lost mine after 6yrs of service while on deployment .I freaked out after losing it ,The best equipment to have in the field next to a knife .

Wish I could get one now, maybe later. I gave my extra to my Dad as a remember this gift.

When he served he said he had 2 with him .

I have one on my keychain right now. Belonged to my Grandfather. Has US G.G.GREENE 1959 stamped on it. Anyone know what the G.G.GREENE stands for; does that indicate where it was made? Thanks.
