OT: I just LOVE what you've done with your uniform !!!

I don't know about the newer digital camo stuff, IE Air Force and Army, but I've seen the Marine version in the field. It works good! I've been trying to con a Marine buddy out of a set, for hunting with a camera. Oh, yeah, the Marines use buttons.

i was looking around and apperently the army is trying to get a silent version of velcro for the uniform, that would be much better....

Because it's a lot easier to throw on some BDU's than get your uniform from the cleaners, make sure all your ribbons are in good shape, get everything on straight, and heaven forbid...scuff up your new Corfams. It's called being lazy.

Bingo. Dress uniforms are a PIA, and uncomfortable to boot.

What kind of sunglasses are they offering? I like the Bolle Bugaboo Glacier like O'Neil wears on Stargate. Those are REALLY cool!

:) :)

They say that 'Clothes make the man" but Arms make the Army.

I wonder if eBay has these uniforms yet?

The sunglasses Samantha Carter (Stargate) wears are from Mountain Equipment Company, but who looks at her eyes? What a FOX!

I would like to pull on her velcro! :D :D

Bill, Wiley X are usually the issue sunglass of choice, Bolle goggles for line dogs.

The digitized camo is superior to the analog stuff according to tests (saw something on some Discovery show about it.)

This isn't the final say on the uniforms, they'll be getting info from the Stryker BDE guys on how to improve it. They've been testing this uniform for about 5-9 months now in Iraq and at FT Lewis.

Army SF has been sewing pockets onto the shoulders since Vietnam. Read "Tricks and Tips from Team B52." I know that when I was chasing my tab back in the late 80's this was pretty much deriguer for a field uni.

They'll most likely go to sewon insignias instead of the proposed pinon, remember that a vehicle crewmember nomex uniform is pretty similar.

They have since authorized sew on insignia (rank, skill badges, etc.) due to lots and lots of letters. :) I'll have to write one about the velcro now, hopefully it will also change.

Despite the grousing about who did it first (or second and third), there is good info about the digital camouflage here. The Military Morons' link, he provides, has some neat field comparison photos and more background info.

Greg

The USAF has utilities now in camo blue...probably perfect for hiding in clouds and/or sneaking up on airheads.

I think someone watched a TNN hunting show with different coor camo patterns...but failed to notice that humans percieve colors.

Buttons and cords are the way to go...no zippers or velcro...unless you want your troops to draw attention to themselves.

Hats...no brim, no good unless it's a watch cap for warmth.

Hey Kis?

We may have had a very few minor differences here, though I think that they were "settled" with no hard feelings.( like 'gravity').

That said, your Seurat post kicks major...extremity of your choice.

Well said, and just goes to show that new inventions are harder to come by than most folks think.

Thanks Nasty. I still like the Bolle Bugaboo Glacier sunglasses, but I can't find them for sale anywhere. they have tinted side protectors.

I have sensitive eyes and need good sun protetction. I also need prescription lenses and the neat wraparound don't seem to come in prescription. Maybe i should start a new thread.....

Am I the only one who thinks that having velcro on your combat uniform is a bad idea?
That was the first thing that struck me when I saw the new design described!

Velcro is LOUD

Even I know that's bad.

The new magnetic catches I've seen on various carriers/cases/purses
hold as good as Velcro and are completely silent in most manifestations.
