OT: international flight from usa

anyone know of good ways to get a last minute international flight(from USA to India)?
 
Start calling international airlines that operate between USA and India. A hassle but upside is sometimes you can get good last minute deals. Might not hurt to get a couple of travel agents working on the project, too. Good luck.

Long ago and far away, a woman at work had a deal with "junket" package arrangers...that is, those folks who made arrangements for the entire plane to be sold to some group who decided to go to... Norway or whatever.

The woman would carry her passport, money, and a spare suitcase with her, and made herself available to fill an empty seat on almost ANY flight they had...for 1/2 or 1/4 price, as I recall.

Might try to see if there is some sort of group travel deal going to the city you seek and call them saying you can do last-minute fill-in.

If you are at a university, ask the local Indian students for the names and contact info for good travel agents. Try two or three agents (but don't go overboard & ask too many). Ask them to consider the western route over the Pacific, e.g. on KAL via Seoul or Singapore airlines via Singapore, or Malaysian airlines etc., etc., in addition to the Atlantic route.

[Added: Don't forget to take the need for transit visas into account, if one is needed.]
 
thanks all, worked something out i think (hopefully get a flight soon, if not, then on 25th)
