speaking of advancing a genre- Until Clint Eastwood brought out the "Unforgiven" westerns had been pretty much stagnant for 20 years.

You guys might check John Norman's Gor novels. Like a 60's version of ERB. It came to mind because one of the greetings they use is "Tal.":)
