well i guess this is a great survival skill.... making wooden arrows...:o of course in a survival situation they wouldn't be this fancy...

this was a good indoor/gimpy project for me to do, while being stuck at home with this damn knee.... it's doing great now.. i'm starting to get a lot of my mobility back.... i'll be back on the trails soon....:D

45#-50#---- 11/32 port orford cedar shafts.. stained, crested, fletched and laquered...

we have a few really cool traditional archery shoots coming up and i noticed i ned to make some more arrows.... they came out great... they fly perfect too.. i screwed up one , so that guy will be a stumper....

there is a dozen of them, though they aren't all in the pic...

sorry for the crappy pics... they look much better in person...

Great job bro! Those look fantastic. Good to hear that you are healing up! What kind of recurve is that?

that's not a recurve.. it's a 58 in. longbow... 47# draw weight... it was made by a ca. bowyer named steve aboott... it's one of my favorite bows... i love it...:D

NIce job brother....I have a ways to go befor I attempte anything so ambitious, but those are beautiful... I'm having some new arrows made after banging mine up something fierce playing bow golf....I was expecting them to be ready but they called and said they lost the measurements.... How's the leg???

That is awesome...that is a very important survival skill IMHO! How do they fly, have you tried them out yet? Gene

Those are gorgeous! It'd be an honor to be shot by something to pretty. :D

Ignorant question- how do you actually make the shafts on those?

Absolutely Beautiful! I have been tempted to attempt this and bowmaking as well. You're an inspiration. Glad to read you're healing, keep it up.

Very cool. But, where is your knife?

many thanks folks... much appreciated.... these are a long lengthy process.... but the outcome is well worth it in the end...:D

these arrows fly great... i shot a few of them at the range on sat... i got a bunch of compliments on them...:o i'm going to try and hold off and not shoot them, until it gets closer to these upcoming shoots...

HD-- i taught gearman how to make arrows... isn't that funny...:( he rocks now....

I have the first 2 bowmakers bible books, I want to make a self bow out of maple or birch.

Beautiful work Mike. That's a talent to be proud of.

Dude we need to do a trade.

I was thinking a nice bird and trout knife with sheath for some arrows.
