Well with the holiday season quickly approaching I wanted to revisit this topic to see what is hot and what is not for lights and multitools amongst Busse users. I am looking to get one of each to add to my "urban survival kit". But in reality they will be tools I will use often. I am open to low end and high end but mostly the "best bang for the buck" deals. Thanks for the input. :D

Lights
i have a inova x5 and a x1, sure-fire G2, L1red, E2 and a m900 on my AR.
multi tools
a small Sog Microtool in my survival pouch, an old gerber multiplier and a Victorinox tool on my belt

and the best multitool is my SFNO.

Leatherman Wave (or Squirt P4 depending on large or small EDC package desired), Fisher space pen, HDS/Novatac EDC 120P flashlight. Absolute best bang flashlight IMO; not "good enough" but best of breed at what it offers.

I use Surefire. Being prior military....my life has depended on a good light far too many times to take shortcuts and go cheap. Pentagon isn't a bad brand either. My personal requirements are bright bright and bright...and preferable water resistant or proof.

Gerber or Leatherman can be hand at reasonable prices....I'd recommend Gerber slightly over Leatherman but own both.

For bang for the buck flashlights, you really can't go wrong with Fenix. The P2D (1x CR123) and P3D (2x CR123) are fantastic lights.

If you want something bright, make sure it's using the Cree Q5 LED. Or the Rebel 100. These have different tints - the Rebel is slightly 'warmer', closer to an incandescent colour. Some people like it, some don't.

Surefire are always good of course, but they get a bit spendy for me. Maybe one day.

I like my Tiablo A8 Q5 edition as well, it throws light almost for ever!

I always carry my Leatherman Micra, Novatac 120T, and some sort of a folder (currently an Emerson)

I carried a Fenix for the past 2 years before the Nova I just got.. great lights.. the CREE Q5s are awesome!

Surefires are without a doubt some of the best flashlights out there. I have a pentagon as well. I currently carry a Jet Beam simply because I enjoy the fact that it uses an AA battery. I have an e1L, g2, c3 and kroma. I've given out g2's for christmas I like em so much. I'd go with an LED, I dont thing there is much use for incandescent bulbs at this point...

I have a gerber and Leathermen, I slightly prefer the leathermen for no good reason.

Stream of consciousness thinking here:

lights:

Fenix lights are hot stuff among the candlepowerforum crowd. Small and very bright. Personal favorites: L0D CE and P1D CE. www.fenix-store.com

Surefire X10. Dang bright, but very spendy.

Thor spotlight. Probably the brightest light you will get your hands on. Throws hundreds of yards.

Consider also Atwood tools. Small enough for your keychain. Use them to pry, scrape, open paint cans, remove staples, etc. Keeps you from snapping the blade on your spendy folder. www.atwoodknives.com . Things don't stay in stock but a day or two. Right now, there is basically nothing available, so keep checking back.

Here's mine:

Leatherman Micra. Fits on your keychain.

right on

After trying a few and giving them away I have had a Leatherman Wave for about five years and it works well.

About lights...
I just carry the brightest headlamp I can get. Consider one; most often when I need light it is because I need to do something that requires my hands so a hand held light just doesn't work well. I can put it on my head or strap it to anthing else to hold it.

Leatherman, and Fenix. Plenty to choose from in those categories, and great bang for the buck.

What's in my pockets?

On my keyring are the following (on two quick-detach rings):
Ring 1
- Fenix L0D
- Leatherman Squirt P4
Ring 2
- Peter Atwood Tactical Whistle
- Busse short lanyard with a Suunto clip-on luminous micro compass attached

For every day carry I have one of the following in my pocket:
- Small Classic Sebenza, for light carry
- Strider SnG, for medium carry

For hikes/travel/adventure I add:
- Fenix P3D Premium 100
- Small aluminum capsule with various fire-starter/first aid items (threaded onto my flashlight lanyard to keep them together)
- Victorinox OHT

For heavy duty adventure I add:
- One of several 4-10" Busse/SR/SY family knives depending on expected use

Best bang for the buck.... no doubt as far as light's go it's gonna be a Surefire G2. BUT, you may also wanna take a look at fenix lights... they are also big bang for the buck.

As far as Multi tools.... I'm a fan of the purple Leatherman Juice, but there are so many different ones available to suit all sorts of needs it's hard to say which one may be right for you. If you have a Target nearby they had some leatherman's on clearance here.... I snagged as many as they had to give out as gifts this holiday season.

In the attached pic is what I leave in my truck... G2 with spare batteries and bulbs. Normally there is also a E2E, and a Surefire M4..... If you don't carry a spare light source... atleast carry spare bulb and batteries.

A SureFire G2 and one of the original Leatherman multi tools abot 17 years old. But of course I never use the knife on it. ;)

The new SureFire E2L Outdoorsman and L1 Cree are both fantastic lights! Runtime graphs (posted over on Candlepowerforums) show that the new E2L will put out full power for nearly nine straight hours before it starts to drop out of regulation. It is also puting out between 55-60 lumens (instead of the stated 45), with the new L1 puts out nearly 80 lumens (instead of its 65L rating)... :)

Best bang for the buck.... no doubt as far as light's go it's gonna be a Surefire G2.

I keep two yellow G2s in my truck with spare bulbs and batts. I agree the G2s are a great economical light; not for EDC, but for emergency use they can't be beat IMO. I also got one of those silly orange cones that goes on the top of the torch in case I need to direct traffic or something.

Leatherman Charge tti and an Inova X5 with a GG&G TID (tactical impact device), I have been wanting to try out a Fenix but my X5 hasn't broken yet and unlike knives I don't see the need to have several flashlights. I also have a Surefire Centurian that rides in my car, it's to bulky for pocket carry.

Hey Raden, did you make up that storage box for your G2 or is it a factory otter box ?
