Does anyone know what Shakespeare's longest soliloquy was? I am searching for a piece appropriate for my final presentation in my Spanish class, so I need something about 5 minutes long.

Other suggestions will be thoughtfully considered. :)

Thanks,

John

A little cliche, but I bet Hamlet's "to be or not to be" or Henry V's "we band of brothers" are long enough.

i think his "I have a dream" speech was ten minutes or so...
of course, if you dont like that one, i could write a new one for you...

John?

Dunno for sure, but check Julius Ceasar, maybe "Friends, Romans, countrymen...etc."

Good luck. How did the job interview go?

Sorry...*anything* I try to say in Spanish takes at *least* 20 minutes...

Heh. When I turned in the job application, they said, come back tomorrow at 0930 for an interview...which lasted about 3 minutes. If I understand correctly,
they'll put me on the schedule as soon as I can get my background check run.
Unfortunately, that'll take a few days, since I had to get a replacement SS card.

How about John Galt's speech from the end of Atlas Shrugged? It's only twenty-something pages long or so. You ought to be able to squeeze it into five minutes no problem. ;)

What about the opening to Notes From The Underground, by Dostoyevsky? It might be long enough and always makes me smile.

Dean,

That soliloquy from Henry 6, part 3, is 575 words long. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, but I'm thinking about doing most of Clinton's address after the OKC bombing. 820 words.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. If you think of any more in the right word range, I'd love to hear them.

Hey, I'm open to suggestions...they just need to be, or easily edited to be, around 750 or 800 words. Simple language would be a plus, too. :)

I used to be a teacher...everyone would try to impress and it was horrible grading stuff. Go with Bruise's idea...Yes - I'm serious, not joking! The humor alone will get you a passing grade!

Five minutes? Yow!

One of my favorites is the Queen Maab speech (by Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet), but it ain't 5 mins.

Nasty convinced me. Go with Bruise's CITH.
