OT: Looks like Sarge might be going in from the South soon

Sarge,

While you deny volunteering you already have and will again if asked, it’s the nature of the beast.

The good part about the way the war is going is that the CSS attitude of "we're CSS, we don't fight or patrol" is being rudely shaken here. A few females are asking to go the range more (we're short of training ammo, any surprise?) but they are drawing their rifles and dry firing, going to the ISMT (simulator) and actively learning how to operate belt fed weapons even though they're not on a gun team.

More interest in practical hand to hand, more LINE vice MCMAP police/riot BS, tactics, patrolling, defensive positions, learning calls for fire, etc. across the board. Still got resistance from higher when I was going to take them on a short 15 miler.

Didn’t get up North to work with the Engineers on their patrol package, an investigation has to get done is why I’m here on a Saturday night. It was evidently a very worthwhile package. Most found out they didn’t know as much as they thought and were not very good, though they attacked the package with a vengeance. The feedback from Iraq is a strong motivator.

Engineer Company is having a formation Monday morning and I’ll pass out two to a couple of hard chargers. Both are the hard-nosed types.

I really don’t know if we’ll go as a whole unit or piecemeal detachments out. I prefer the whole unit as we can keep better track of our own and forget to read certain rules and regulations.

That's a good thing, the females should have the training they want because they might need it.;)

I am completely disgusted with our media ...........................

This might be a disinformation/misinformation program, but sure doesn't look like it.

WTF is this????? (emphasis mine)

"...Asked about concerns the U.S. supply lines were stretched and vulnerable to guerrilla attacks, he [Major General Victor Renuart] said: "There have been some harassing attacks on our supply lines but they have not stopped the movement of our logistical support."

Renuart said he could not confirm reports that food rations had been cut for some frontline U.S. units. Reuters correspondents with U.S. troops south of Baghdad have said their rations have been cut to one meal a day from three...."

It's not clear that the way they are doing things this time around is any better. If this means that the reporter's rations were cut, but nobody elses, OK--isolated fact reported, over-interpretation is listener's fault. Otherwise, if the reporters knowingly participate in disiinformation/misinformation, they've lost what little credibility they have to report "news", and anything they report will be worthless (If not already).

I can't believe that they were allowed to report this if troop's rations were cut, but if they are providing information useful to the enemy, then the reporters and their briefing officers should be punted NOW.

There is a time to just shut-the-/&%$-up.

Saw a female fighter pilot interviewed right after she got back from mission. Her plane took a lightning stike early on which knocked out the electronics that tells the pilot he's being painted by radar and that a missile might be on the way up to greet him --her??? And she kept on going and completed the mission. End of story.

Whenever they say that they're 'embedded', I have this dream that that they're 'embedded in concrete'. Somehow never seems to happen.
