OT man, we are about to float away here in the south east!

Usually the mountains keep the worst out for us here in the TN Valley, but I swear it's keeping the rain in this time.

It's been raining pretty good here for the last several days, and worse in nearby Atlanta, where they're having to close interstates downtown. The wife was supposed to have a business meeting in Atlanta Monday morning (!!!), but it got canceled at the last minute. VERY lucky. Scary stuff.

Keep the family close, and stay safe.

Stay safe Jeff_c, and everyone else getting hammered out there. Watch out for upstream culverts too. The flood in 2005 that nearly wiped my town off the map was nothing more then a 8' culvert that got blocked until the water pressure blew it out. Turns a small 2ft deep river into 20ft of water ripping thru town.

Keep dry, and your BOBs handy, and don't take chances!

I have to be honest... I loved it. I enjoy a good storm and there were quite a few during our little rain stretch. None that made my hair stand up, but storms none the less. I guess it comes from spending a good portion of my childhood in the gulf. I love to sit out on the porch and just watch the storm. The worse it gets the better. Of course, it's ok for me because I don't have to worry about hail damage, flooding, any kind of water damage, etc. I live on the second floor of an apartment building so none of those things apply to me. I feel for the people who do have to worry about that stuff. When I had my own house, I certainly did. This nice little stretch of rain was fun for me. It was a good chance to see how the new truck does in the wet, which is spectacular by the way. I drove around for a good portion of Sunday and yesterday looking for people that had spun out off the road so I could tow them out of ditches. Didn't see a single one. It was disappointing. Don't get me wrong. I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but I sure do like towing cars out of ditches, sand, snow, whatever. I'll take what I can get. I never take money for doing it. I just like to do it.

Oh don't get me wrong, there's nothing better than listening to the rain to put you to sleep. But when it's going for almost 2+ weeks it gets sort of overdone. On top of that I recently had to sell my jeep to pay off some bills and all I have now is my little Nissan 200SX. :( Big difference in clearance!

We had over 19" in three days (NE GA)!!!! Most of the people on the city water system are still without water due to the water lines failing. The schools are closed and all of the eating joints are also. Maybe things will straighten out in a few more days.

Thank God!! We have some sunshine at the moment!!! Going to see if I can mow the grass soon. There's freaking mushrooms growing in my front yard.

We need the rain here all the soil is still salty from Ikes storm surge. All of our crop canals, pond and bayous are still salty as well......In another words our ecosystem needs a good douching

Here are two of the few that are popping up on my front lawn.

Today, I drove back through the area where I saw that person get swept away. If I heard the radio correctly, it was a lady. She didn't make it. The area was under at least 20-30 feet of water. The people who live there are being allowed back in, and they are dragging all the wet stuff out of the houses and drying it in the yards. I can't tell you how weird I felt while driving over the Chattahoochee River bridge at I-20 and seeing the water stains on the trees at eye level. The river is usually 20 feet below that bridge. I was in Dalton yesterday, and I snapped a couple of pictures of Prater Mill Creek. It looked like a full blown white water river. I'll edit this post and put them in later. My gear is still packed in the truck.

Yep, we have a park in town that is about . 85 miles around. It has a running track and BIG fields. It was under about 6 feet of water yesterday.

Looks like we are over the worst. The sun was out today and most of yesterday. I think we had a total of 9 fatalities... millions in damage. Whole houses and vehicles destroyed. They say it was a 100 year flood.
