Got sent these this morning. Not sure if the sources are genuine, but some are very funny.

"A slipping gear could let your M203 grenade launcher fire when you least expect it. That would make you quite unpopular in what's left of your unit."
-Army's magazine of preventive maintenance.

"Aim towards the Enemy."
-Instruction printed on US Rocket Launcher

"When the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend.
-U.S. Marine Corps

"Cluster bombing from B-52s is very, very accurate. The bombs are guaranteed to always hit the ground."
-U.S.A.F. Ammo Troop

"If the enemy is in range, so are you."
-Infantry Journal

"It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed."
-U.S. Air Force Manual

"Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons."
-Gen. Mac Arthur

My personal favorite:
“Try to look unimportant; they may be low on ammo."
-Infantry Journal

"You, you, and you....Panic. The rest of you, come with me."
-U.S. Marine Corp Gunnery Sgt.

"Tracers work both ways."
-U.S. Army Ordnance

"Five second fuses only last three seconds."
-Infantry Journal

"Don't ever be the first, don't ever be the last, and don't ever volunteer to do anything."
-U. S Navy Swabbie

"Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid."
-David Hackworth

"If your attack is going too well, you're walking into an ambush."
-Infantry Journal

"No combat ready unit has ever passed inspection."
-Joe Gay

"Any ship can be a minesweeper... once."
-Anon

"Never tell the Platoon Sergeant you have nothing to do."
-Unknown Marine Recruit

"Don't draw fire; it irritates the people around you."
-Your Buddies

"If you see a bomb technician running, follow him."
-U.S.A.F. Ammo Troop

I don't know what context they were using, but there are no gears in a M-203.

Sorry...most of them are true things I've heard or seen myself "...point toward enemy..." for example.

I'm "at work" sense of humor sort of turned off I guess. Apologies AA...

"Any combat-ready unit that does not 'pass inspection' is being inspected by a clueless idiot."

M.G.Sgt. William Stearns.

One of my favorites, too. A very underrated truism.

Very underrated, but the deeper truth is the need to be flexible. History records plans that survived all the way to victory.

if the truck youre riding in slams into gear and the retard with the loaded m203 falls over and a finger goes into the trigger guard, then you could have a problem.
i thought that is what they meant....

Spring loaded with an iris DT...after "X" number of revolutions at "Y" centrifugal force (usually around 15 meters from the muzzle), the springs holding the iris closed are overcome and impact allows detonation. No gears.

I yield on a lot of swordplay and martial arts issues, but I spent 3 years, 2 months and 29 days in the US Army using one of these, then another 12 as a 75370 Small Arms Marksmanship instructor for the USAF teaching this junk on a daily basis. No gears.

No play DT...you all teach me a great deal on hand (or no) weapons...and it is much appreciated.

Thank you DT...I expect that I will be out that way again soon, working at Tinker and staying right across the street at the Hampton. I will plan my trip so that I may go to pay my respects to Yvsa on the Sunday before my workweek begins (if at all possible). I look forward to meeting you...he has spoken well of you.
