OT: mouse guns

Pretty neat. Commerically done, but pretty neat.

You had me time-travelling back to a guy...somebody's great uncle, or grandfather, retired tool and die guy or machinist, who hand-milled a miniature locomotive engine...steam variety.

The man lived in a grade-school buddy's in-law apartment in the basement of a bungelow on the South Side of Chicago in the 1950's This was pretty common in those days, the extended family was closer, and many of the folks were just a generation away from having immigrated to the United States. Many families had relatives living with them as a matter of course, not an emergency situation.

Because I was a kid, and because I looked at life with wonder, not a critical eye, it was PERFECT. He made it (as I recall) out of cobbled metal from work, and government time milling machines and drill presses, etc. The old guy knew kids would be tickled by the tiny perfection, and it pleased him. Nice memory.

Thank you.

Beautifully detailed.

You should see a full-size 1911 next to an 18W boot! Not this small of course, but makes it look like a pocket pistol.

A facinating if somewhat impractical effort. This one wouldn't fit my hand like the original, therefore limiting its effectiveness, and its utility. Being a pragmatic slob, I'll take the original any day.....BLAM, instead of Pfttt :D :D

I don't know about those pearls, but those are cool.

I like that C96 Broomhandle.

Being a Brit and, therefore, not over knowledgeable about guns and such things, can someone tell me - are these miniatures 'shootable'?

I understand that some of the full scale versions use exhaust gases and recoils to re-cock and load the next round, but is it possible to get that much energy from such small cartridges?

Can't deny that they are tiny things of beauty, whatever else may be said about them.

I think they are made in the same vein as the miniature train Kis mentioned. Operational but not functional, as in, don't expect to ride on the train or fire the gun. I bet you can cycle the mini rounds through it though!
