OT: My physical today

...I try not to go to the doctor and certainly not for preventive purposes.

Cog...by the time *you* sense anything wrong in the case of colon cancer, it is inoperable and you are dying from something that could have been prevented with one office visit for an hour ten years earlier.

Nice knowing you though...you seemed like a nice guy. :(

.

There's also a virtual colonoscopy now, which is less invasive, though it can't detect polyps less than 10mm in diameter. I don't know much about it, but I've been hearing ads on the radio.

Something you can do for a healthier colon is to make sure you're getting enough dietary and/or soluble fiber. Metamucil and other such products might seem silly, but they can definitely help keep you healthy.

i've heard that those virtual colonsoscopies are a joke. Just get the real deal and know that you're safe.

Come on guys...they get you hammered, you're out cold for 30 minutes or so, and you might live a lot longer. You don't get a nice dinner, but it's not much different from what some folks might consider a decent date.

Okay...that one is a stretch, but I'm trying to convince you all to take this seriously and *JUST DO IT*

Okay...apologies to Nike for that one...

And here's another, just not as vocal about it. I agree with you and what you said to cog. It is just downright stupid too not get checked out. :grumpy:
Preventive medicine is the absolute best kind!!!!

I switched to a high fiber diet and lost 50 lbs. I eat lots of fruit and veggies, oatmeal, whole wheat cereal, oat bran muffins etc. Plus I drink plenty of water. I feel quite a bit better overall.

That's what they say, Nasty, but I'm unconvinced. My neighbor has been bedridden for two years because of complications from cancer treatment...ironically enough he's a physician and regrets agreeing to the original treatment. I've seen this many times. I wouldn't tell anyone else not to get checked, but it's not for me.
