OT.... Off the HOOK!!!!!

Well we did talk about dinner at Sushi Ran when you are in the Bay Area next. We could stop at my house for an ear full first.

I might be going to Half Moon Bay in April... that would be cool!

Jur T: The speakers are epiphany 6x6 pluses. They are a line array with two base drivers on each side that run off their own internal amps. This is the only photo I have of them on my work laptop.

Are you saying those have their own internal bass amp and the tube amp at its side is for the mids and highs?

Right, 1000 watt internal amps on each side and then those mono amps for the mids/highs. I keep the bass pretty low.

My father had a sweet set up at one point. I wish I could remember the brand name stuff, but some of the custom cabling for power and speakers were insane. The sound was like nothing I had heard. +1 on vinyl records sounding the best. Unbelievable!

You guys are freaking me out.. what is the connection with knives, stereos, and bicycles? Maybe there are just so many people here on this forum that you're bound to find similar interests... pretty cool.

My taste (or desire) and my budget are very different but i've been really happy with my B&W Nautilus 804's powered by Rotel gear. It's not overly exotic but gets me close to that audiophile nirvana. Nothing like having it set up right so that you can hear the air moving over a singers lips as they take a breath or the vibration of a guitar string. You know you have it dialed when you close your eyes and swear the person is sitting in front of you. Very addictive huh?

I got caught up in the cable craze (no, not Monster cable) for a bit but the dollar to performance went above me and I heard less and less improvement and just changes in tone.

Any strong opinions or recommendations on audio or interconnect cables?

I have a stero in a cabinet at home but it's nowhere near the level you fellas are talking.

I'm a whole other kind of geek - knives, watches, guns, leather, and photography for me. :D

Like watches too :D Got a Concord Auto, a Ventura kinetic with sweet curved saphire crystal over the face and an exhibition back...actually the Concord has an exhibition back too. I like seeing how they move....I want the Omega....Seamaster? I'll have to check up on if that's the one I was eyeing...I'm pretty much into...everything. Mechanincal, edged, electronic, or shoots a bullet..like books a lot too. Have a veritable library.

I got married over a year ago and my wife had been previously married. Needless to say, I inherited some things I'm not crazy about. However, we are planning to sell and move ASAP, and when that happens, I will put more time into getting the sounds for that house than I ever have knives, guns, etc...

I can't wait to be able to build my sound system the way I want it. My only problem is that I have high-priced tastes, and a two-teacher income.
