My yard:
Thought I'd share a few pictures of where I live. CA gets slammed a lot (relentlessly, although we have the largest economy in the nation, $1.9 trillion with a "T", and more scientists, engineers and Nobel laureates than any other state]), but it's a big and beautiful place. This is the time of year I like the most, when the grass is green. The air here is very dry, one of the main reasons I decided to move back here and because of the lack of humidity, in the summer, the grass in the hills turns brown. The "golden" brown hills are what give California the name "the golden state".
The white spots on the hills are manganese deposits, this area (San Antone Valley) used to be the largest producer of manganese and quicksilver (mercury) during the second world war, probably the only reason there is anything up here. Very mountainous and hard to traverse, a lot like Afghanistan, yet I'm only about 75 miles from the city of SF; I don't go to the city much, not really my cup of tea, but it's there.
I'm at about 2200 feet right here so it doesn't snow much right where I live or on the roads I use to get into the nearest towns, each about 30 miles away. I have a couple of neighbors, but everyone up here are mountain folk and the rural crime watch laws apply. I don't know exactly what the difference between rural and city law is, but I take it to mean, as does everyone else up here, that if some weird is going on on your property, you shoot first and ask questions later. There is a fire station that is minimally manned during the summer and one small shop/restaurant, no police. If you did have to call the cops for something, you're looking at a minimum hour and a half wait.
Think what you will about California, but it's a diverse place in all respects and I'm sure anyone could find their paradise here. For me, dry air, solidarity and temperate weather.
I was going to walk around this, then I got lazy because I would have had to walk uphill to go around it, so decided to try my RH as a clearing tool.
It actually worked much better than I expected, took about 30 seconds maybe and the beard works well at moving the chopped sticks out of the way. You can't just slash, of course, you need to go for where the branch meets the bush, but it was still very quick and I actually used the top edge.
I had my 1311 in my backpack, but my RH was on my belt, so I figured why not.
