Back open, maybe we can play nice now...

I know CA isn't everyone's cup of tea, but that doesn't keep me from enjoying it, there's a big pine tree ready to fall over on my property, as soon as I get the green light, we'll see if it's too big for a Busse ;)

Show the fallen tree a 1311 and watch it part like the red sea on its own!!!

Seriously....I just got mine and haven't been able to put it down.

The 1311 is one of those that I just got giddy when I held it for the first time and immediately wished I'd ordered two.

Most likely it will be a joint effort, KZII, 1311, CGFBM, Rattle Hawk.

I learned something new the other day, dry oak is much harder to chop than green pine :D One of those, "If you learn to drive a bus first, you can drive anything" situations :)

Thanks for the great pics Dan ! You live in a beautiful spot, and have a great view.

CA is a beautiful state, with a alot of diversity. Always wanted to visit the state, but not looking like that will happen.

Thanks again for the post:thumbup:

Small world. Spent every summer on Arguello St!
Near Tank Park huh? At least that's what we called it since there is a big tank to play on.

People that bash Cali are simple minded. As if everyone in Cali wants to ban all guns and knives. Yes there are a lot of rotten apples trying to ruin it for the bunch. The majority of those people are in the big cities like SF and LA. California is the best place in the world to live. Great economy (for now), lots of sunshine, surf, snow, desert, farmland, Yosemite, Disneyland, Las Vegas close by, everything…. It's also the most productive agricultural state. I think the Bay Area is the best of the best. Right in the middle of everything. Not too hot, not too cold.

Know that park all too well, al! Family has/had been in Redwood City since the 30's. Not many of us left, though!

I had no idea Livermore looked like that.

Technically it's Livermore by mail, but we're about 10 miles in to Santa Clara county. Before I moved here I didn't know that cities could cross county lines...

If you do a google map search of The Junction, Livermore CA you'll see about where I am, right smack in the middle of the largest undeveloped part of the bay area :D

Howdy neighbor. Looks like there are more of us in Livermore than I thought!

Howdy. There are, and over in the Scrapyard forum too, I think there's four or five guys at least.

So Cal is nice, but I haven't spent much time there. Are there any coastal parts of socal that have coral reddawn? I wasn't quite sure if you had to go into Mexico before you started seeing coral beaches or not.

Dan,
Looks like a nice area! Does California get any snow in the mountains?
California is the only other state that gets as much grief as good old New York State!

jdeiseljoe69,,,we get lots of snow in sierras.i backpacked all throught the sierras a few years back, they are among the most beautiful mountains in the world.and they have a few glaciers up at the highest altitudes.in fact some years i couldnt get in the backcountry until july there was so much snow!
dando,,,no coral down here, just seaweed and rocks and alot of fish.ive gone snorkeling along so-cal in a few places and catalina island.catalina has some pretty clear water.

I see where you are now, a bit south of Livermore.

My uncle lives in San Jose so I go up that way quite a bit, but never go near your junction. Same for when I go up to Humboldt (my cousin is in school there) I go up the interior route until Redding, so I always bypass those hills.

Beautiful pics Drift draft. The coastal redwood forests are amazing. There are redwood rainforests in Washington state, not sure if the ones here are classified as rainforests though. Seems like they have more ferns...

Is that Mt. Shasta? I remember being there in the dead middle of summer and there was snow at the very, very top.

I love the coastal cliffs, Highway 1 is scenic and semi-rural, kinda...

Next time I head over to SC (went there in October to see the monarchs) I'll hit you up, maybe get some info on some nice spots to stop in.

Is there enough snow in area's to snowmobile in California? That would be a pretty interesting way to visit the state!

Thanks! Hope you don't mind me posting them. Its hard to take a bad picture in these parts.
That's Mt. Shasta taken from Mt.Ashland OR. August 2011. The coast here between the Redwoods and the steep cliffs have a way of making me feel so small. Hit me up anytime, I have a list of places I've seen and a list of places I want to see in this area. You're welcome to either. I have visited Mammoth and June Lakes to the west of you a few times and that is extremely nice country, but haven't been to the bay area yet. It's on my soon list.

There are quite a few places up further north and east of me that become vast, snowy wildernesses. During Vietnam when my father was in boot camp at Camp Pendelton, near San Diego, it snowed. He says seeing snow on palm trees is one of strangest things he's ever seen. I'm not a snow guy, so others could probably answer your questions better.

We used to go to Big Tree state park when I was younger and there are vast, snowy wildernesses up there. Mark Twain lived somewhere up there.

Calaveras County is an extremely nice place to visit and very un-"California"-like. Small towns, country, lakes, forests and full of one of my favorite attractions, calcium deposit caverns.

California should at least be three states IMO: northern, bay area and southern. According to economical info (and reasonably, by size, if compared to the eastern states...) it should be at least five. 50 is just suck a dang even number though...
