OT: One for the gun buffs

I hope it works real well. The M-16 piece of junk they gave me when they took my m-14 didn't work. That is why I wound up with the shotgun. Flashete rounds are the $hit$.

Maybe they are finally going to put something in the hands of troops that works.:)

I WANT ONE!!

I will have to find a way to get fire a couple of rounds with one of those some time.

Hey, I've got one of those! Well, mine doesn't have three positions on its selector but then it belongs to me and not Uncle Sugar.

I love mine. Much lighter and shorter than a regular AR-15. 16" barrel with fake suppressor slipped over the end. So it looks like the military 14.5 with suppressor but actually gives you an extra 1.5" of velocity. I'm not too worried about the local varmints seeing my muzzle flash.

I live on 90 acres and that rifle gets carried a lot for general "walking around the property." I have way too many coyotes and that rifle with the OKO red dot is perfect for them. You don't even have to shoulder the rifle all the way. You can go "heads up" over the rear sight and easily pick up the red dot. Very fast for a quick or running shot. And that carrying handle/rear sight comes right off with two thumbscrews. That takes the red dot as well since it is on a goodneck mount. (Which lines the red dot up with the iron sights.) I have an ATN 30mm scope (5x) that I have on a 1/2" riser mount. So I take take the iron sights and red dot off, and put on a 5x illuminated scope in about thirty seconds. Zero holds either way.

Mine is actually from Rock River Arms. They make some very nice AR's. Mine has certainly fired a lot of rounds with no problem. (It is the AR15.com LEGP from the first year.)

That's a pretty serious coyote plinker.

Burst fire capability would be nice though, never know when the coyotes might set up an ambush.;)

I like the Swiss model - give everyone of age a full auto weapon, and make long-range target shooting the national sport.

It'd probably painful in America, though. Personal injury lawsuits would double the national debt in a year.

As my students say - "Don't be stupid. Stupid hurts."

I hear you, Pappy. The original M16 did not tolerate dirt very well. It tended to hang up at the most inopportune time. IIRC, the Army was using the wrong powder in the ammunition. Later versions M16A1 and M16A2 were much better and had some of the bugs worked out plus they changed the formula on the powder.

I would still rather have an M14 though. :D

Just got back from the range with my new "bullet launcher". 10 rounds for zero, 40 rounds for qualification. Shot a 38 out of 40, that red dot Aimpoint sight is da shi+!:D Got back to the arms room and my armorer had a little present waiting for me. A brand new, no-kidding, SAS tactical thigh holster for my 9 mil. I feel like a kid in a candy store.:) We've been working average 14 hour shifts since MLK day packing and loading, so life sux, but today it don't suck as bad. 'Course I had to tease some of the young troopies and ask 'em if they wanted to borrow my bi-focals next time.:p ;)

Bruise, he's sending me a snake of sorts that a fellow by the name of Bura made. Some young troop is gonna be as happy as he&& with this particular snake. I just hope the snake don't bite him as it occurs to me that Raghorn probably keeps his "snakes" quite keen. Be careful with that boot if you get it, no telling what might be in it.

Mike, thanks for adding another HI khuk to the team.:)
