Just got back from Star Wars III: Return of the Sith

Can't put in words what it was like....just....amazing.

I'm a hard sell at the movie theatre, and this one had me hook, line & sinker.

At one point I felt like I hated the film - but was so compelled to stay I couldn't even budge. Despite knowing everything that was going to happen....seeing was truly believing. What a mixture of emotions. I like films like this....

Sure, the dialogue is a little stiff at times...but that complaint pales in comparison to the feeling of connection you get (if you've seen the other 5 movies) and the overwhelming roller-coaster-ride of emotions, action scenes, turmoil, etc.

Like I said....I could go on all day. I'll spare you the torment and end now.

Go see it!

I am hoping to be able to wait until this comes out on DVD. Betcha my sons will see it at the movie theatre though. I am not really a big Star Wars fan, but the boys are and we have the other Star Wars movies on DVD.

As an aside, is anybody else bothered by the sound levels in movie theatres these days? Most movies are so loud that it hurts. I'd thought I had killed off quite a bit of my hearing over the years via gunfire and motorcycling, but movies are much too loud for my tastes. Or mebbe I'm just old. :(

Jeff

Yeah...you're old...but then so am I :(

(still love guns and scoots though!)
.

Sith! I thought you said Syph and I was gonna warn you to take some penicillin and quit chasing wild women! ;)

I haven't seen the first one as a complete film yet. I saw half in french and the other half later.

Never saw the second one.

I guess I'll wait for it to come out on Betamax. :)

I was going to go see Revenge of the Sith, but now I think I'll go see Return of the Sith. It sounds better.
( I know. I'm a pain in the ass)

(Grumble grumble runble grumble)

No Dune.

No Star Wars.

What else is next?

No Zombies?

No Beer?

(mutter mutter mutter)

I don't know what to say. Lucas came out of nowhere, made one darn movie, became a franchise and filthy rich, and resurfaces every once in awhile to make another sequel or proquel or whatever. I like them OK but haven't watched them all and am in no hurry to. Now, the Rings series- that's different to me, that seems to have Greatness about it. I think of Star Wars just as good clean fun. I do have a soft spot for space adventures though.

I saw the first showing at 12:01 am thursday. Well, ok the auditorium 3 rooms down saw it at 12:01 but the film didn't reach our projector for another 20 minutes.

The film had a couple of mistakes in regards to the books. Things like Cmdr. Antilles making an appearance (in the books wedge's father ran a station, or was a merchant or something) is inconsistant with the "expanded universe". The only other thing I disliked about the film was the near constant action.

Even with people fighting all the time they managed to make you care about the characters somewhat and actually enjoy the movie. Episodes one and two both put me asleep just past half way through.

devo,

despite growing up in a hunting family and not being introduced to ear pro until 19 or so, having worked security in a very LOUD club, and then, later, being a mortarman-

I've been known to wear hearing protection in theaters. And I am NOT old. Yet.

To be fair to Lucas, check out THX-1138. (If you can find it, that is. I had to resort to Netflix.) It's worth renting.

He could've done more than space opera but the art films don't pay the bills. :)

I agree with Munk, as far as LOTR being better movies based on much better story.

I do enjoy the Star wars movies quite a bit too.

To me, the lightsaber duel in episode one was classic. Great musical score, awesome choreography, very intense. The development of Darth Maul's management of the fight was very interesting, and added a lot to the sequence.

The action in episode two was too frenetic to me, hard to see all that was happening. Variations in rhythm and intensity, (like in music) help create and maintain interest.

Hope episode 3 is good. Will see it soon.

No Star Trek. :(
UPN's "Enterprise" was the best.... too bad horrible shows like "Voyager" and "Deep Space Nine" beat down viewer interest in the ST franchise...

Capt. Archer kicked alien a__ and took names.

I want to see this new "Sith" movie, but when I remember Jar-Jar Binks.... cringe, I do.

The merchandising is shameful too. The little boy driving the "speeder" sold a lot of Pepsi®. The films became nothing but a vehicle to sell plastic figures to kids.

Lucas lost his focus of making a good movie first, THEN selling junk. Just pushing lightsabers was what the last few were about.

This flick is supposed to turn that around... I'll see it.

"Revenge of the Syph..."

Heh... Does it star Princess Layah and Porkins? :p

Sorry. I couldn't resist when I heard someone misunderstand "Syph" for "Sith."
