A buddy just gave me an old leather jacket and told me I could cut it up to make stuff. It's distressed pigskin, soft, and in a shade of khaki brown that's a natural for desert camo. Sweeeet. Guess whose 15" Siru is getting a custom scabbard cover? No hasty wrap with 100 mile an hour tape this time. Easy bit of work, stretch it tight, sew one seam up the back, trim off the excess and slip the frog back on. Two beers and one half hour news program ought to do it. Hey, a blade by the royal kami himself rates more than duct tape don't it?
Check your local thrift shops for old leather jackets. Good hides just waiting to be harvested.
