Neighbor just stopped by to tell me a mutual friend, and one of the nicest guys in the world, died over the holiday (emphysema long time, pneumonia, and death). I'd just visited him last week.

Like my friend, Doug, this guy KNEW I cherished him, but I'm real glad I had a chance to renew or reinforce my friendship with him before he left. Not so much for him, as for me. Maybe Doug and Dave are now swapping stories about me, but...well, you know...the night sky is darker now.

This is a good season to tell the folks who already know you care, that you care. Give yourself a present. Someday, you will need it.

I've been told we each get just enough life as we need. Not so sure anymore.

Be well and safe.

As one gets older, one comes to understand to say hello and goodbye as if it's the last visit...it may be.

Sorry for your loss Kis...glad you didn't hear the news 6 months after the fact and say "Gee, I was just going to call..."

Notice how many people Kis describes as being " the nicest guys "?

Makes me suspicious that Kis treats them that way, thus setting up a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Ever notice how pretty young ladies, and kindly old men seem to get warmer welcomes than the rest of us?

Kismet has his path, and much to admire and emulate. He see's a lot of Gold. Rusty's hit it as usual. Gotta see the Gold.

One thing I refuse to admire, despite Kismet's most soul-felt effort, is the habbit he has of placing a question mark when using someone's name.

Munk? Kismet? God? Good Doggie?

Keep that up, and they'll put you in a home misdiagnosed with Alzsheimers.

munk? Rusty?

( :D )

gawd that felt good!

I just don't mourn the jerks.

well, not often.

I am, in fact, a charter member of the curmudgeon society, regularly shaking my fist at gawd and the world, and stalking the earth muttering to myself like Artie Johnson in Laugh-in, occasionally lashing out with my cane at passers-by.

Which is why I live alone in the country with the not-right dog.

I've just been lucky enough to meet some of the nicest people on the planet during my tenure here.

So have I. Unfortunately I haven't been one of them. But as I get older, I get nicer. By the time I cash in my last chip, I should be a real sweetheart.

and of niceness, also presence, giving, stature, humility and heart. Just pure big heart. Without them where would I be?
