OT--the opposite of a hand-held edged weapon

There will continue to be pilots for awhile. The cost of available technology has to catch up, and boys will want to play with their toys.

From what I understand 1/3 of the current cost of fighting aircraft is the survival systems. This does not mean that if you remove the pilot the price will decrease, you still have the R&D to cover of new stuff. However if you remove the pilot, it lowers the radar signature, increases maneuverability (humans cannot tolerate the upper end of G's), and increases payload with increased aerodynamics (no "bubble" for the pilot).

Besides I am biased, I am colorblind and without 20/20 vision, they wont let me near the things. And if you think I am a heretic as far as the traditional thinking in the Air Force goes you are right.

BTW, look up a famous General and Pilot named Billy Mitchell. He was an interesting character.

I hate to think that I'm probably being as traditional as those Battleship lovers who were so against carriers and bombers, who eventually canned Mitchell.

1. It's spelled "chivalry," The qualities idealized by knighthood, such as bravery, courtesy, honor, and gallantry toward women.

2. I'll stop there.

Thought that word didn't look right...:( But you don't agree that not killing a pilot who could lawfully be killed might be considered chivalry?

#2 seen, I've been enjoying my Bura made 18in WW2 very much. My brother got out his Kesar 18in AK and we fed them a few trees, vines, and thorn bushes. By grandmother is staying with us and we decided to combine funds and get here a BAS for maintaining her property in Maine.
