**OT** What can I do...

I would duct tape all the seams on the door, then bleach everythere outside it, then fabreeze all over the place. also get some of that oust air sanatizer. If it doesn't work, it will be a pretty good show when the local media/health department shows up...seeing as you should have already called them both.

Keep all of your receipts. Deduct it all from your rent. Just attach a letter of explaination and copies of the receipts to your rent check.

You might think "what's a couple of air fresheners cost? A few bucks. It's not worth the trouble." But I fear that this is gonna add up. If this has been going on for a week and goes on for another, you may very well end up having to steam clean your upholstery on your furniture, clean all of your cloths, etc. It could add way up. And your landlord may be unwilling to clean the carpet in your appartment and you may have to do that yourself. Your expenses could add up to quite a bit before this is all over with. So, keep those receipts; you can always throw them away later.

BTW, you should promptly complain to your landlord that the smell has gotten into your carpet. When he has the other unit cleaned, the carpet in your unit should be cleaned too. It will probably cost less to have the two done at once than to get the guy out a second time.

I have a cousin that sells supplies to DR. and dental offices. He said he sells them a spray to kill noxious oders that really works well. I believe the name is Ozium or Ozum. You might check it out with your local pharmacy, health care supply store, or even a Dr. you know. Good Luck.

If you do decide to buy some sort of air filter, don't get an Ionic Breeze. They've been tested and found to do pretty much nothing.

Start keeping a little diary of events. Dates and times you talk to the landlord, same for talking to Health Department. Write down what was said, promised, etc. This type of activity log looks good if you have to go to court, and it's handy to remind you of exactly what was said when.

Surely you have other neighbors. Aren't they raising a stink (sorry) about this too? I'd be throwing a fit! If it were me, rent or no rent, good credit or bad, no matter what it cost me, I'd be out of there as soon as I got the first whiff. I'd camp. I'd sleep in my car, or I'd sleep on the sidewalk, but I would absolutely not live with that smell. I don't think I'd be able to live there even after the odor was gone. I think you'll be smelling it, even when there's nothing left to smell. Get your family out of there.
