OT: What kinds of Bows do knife-knuts like?

Hey Dylan-d, I shoot an old PSE elite, too! No cracked limbs so far. I wouldn't mind getting a Matthews someday, though, or one of those Hoyts with the goofy looking riser.

Mathews SQ2!!! It's a short and light compound bow. Very accurate for such a short a to a. I have a Mathews Icon and an ultra 2, but would love and SQ2.

I shoot a custom Black Widow MAII takedown recurve. I shoot it instinctive and it is a fabulous bow. I have had mine for several years and new ones are pretty pricey though. If you like recurves and have the cash you can't go wrong with them.

Have fun shopping!

I love all kinds of bows. I have a bunch of recurves (mostly Bear) and a longbow, but I figure for hunting, you owe it to the animals to use every advantage you can get to make a clean kill.

I use a Mathews Q2 solo-cam compound. I also have an Alpine Archery compound I like very much. A lot of my friends shoot different brands and I've tried several compounds. The Mathews bows are my sure favorites!

Good hunting,
Bob Scott

I got to play with a Mathews Solocam at an archery shop today. It was pretty neat. What a nice let-off! Something like 85%...feels like you could hold it there all day...

Someday, I guess. It's a bit too pricey for me right now. I'll let somebody else break one in and then pick it up used in a few years.

I should also mention that I did go to the archerytalk.com forum. Great place! Thanks for the link!

I've had several compound bows favorite being the Mathews and Fred Bear.

I don't have them any more because I ended up taking the sights off one at a time until I was left with no sights and was shooting even better.

I suppose you can say I graduated "backwards" to a recurve. I now have only recurve bow and really enjoy using it.

I'm currently in the beginning stage of building my own bamboo backed bow. You should have seen the look on my wife's face when I came home last week with a 6" diameter x 7' chunk of bamboo...priceless!

It's a pretty exciting project!

Mathews Q2, shooting Gold Tip arrows, steel force 100 grain broadheads. I want a Legacy pretty bad, but I can't do it right now!

I do have a 55# Ben Pearson recurve that I really enjoy shooting with either cedar shafts, or Gold Tips with feathers.

For the record, I shot a Bowtech that was awesome. I liked that bow, and it was compact. Big plus with me.

Mathews.

I have an MQ1, shoot Gold Tips and 100 Gr. Muzzys.

I've had several other bows, but the Mathews is the smoothest, most accurate, quietest bow I've ever shot.

Bear White tail II older but when I do my part very accurate.I was given a cherry wood long bow with 70 lb draw and it was just a bit taller than I was at the time and had to draw with the bow canted It might have been relatively easy for an adult but whew

If your ready to leave the compound behind, I can recommend either the Wes Wallace or Blacktail bows. They make custom recurves and longbows for hunting.

Yeah . . . time to take off the training wheels! (Just Kidding . . . no flaming please!)

Wes makes an AWESOME longbow and very good prices for a custom! www.weswallacebows.com I have a 62" 55#@27"

I am also VERY partial to Tim Mullins work at Acadian Woods bows! He makes a take-down hybrid long bow that screams called the 3-piece treestick! www.acadianwoods.com I have one that is 65#@27" and 55# limbs on order for it

Traditional is a blast and as easy to learn as throwing a ball!:D

I've got a Martin takedown recurve that I have had for 20 years that shoots great. My wife bought my a Sky longbow for Christmas about 12 year ago and it is my most used bow. I love tradition bowhunting.
