I really like what you wrote and totally agree. Leadership is something that can never be learned in a classroom no matter how many times your company or Uncle Sam requires that box to be checked.
It comes in many forms and is at its best when it becomes an inspiration to a subordinate in the most subtle manner. I have seen it both as "knife in the teeth" and from a desk. My favorite guys were the senior petty officers or chiefs who ran the deck or in particular the 19 year old plane captains who inspired me to bring back "their" airplanes with as few holes as possible and not to overstress the bird on landing.
I think our very own Sargeant Falcon fits that role and again I say congratulations for whatever you did in that hellhole.
