people backing out of deals. Whether it is a trade or a sale. I have had three people back out of deals after saying "I'll take it" in the last month.

As good as the old HOGs are in fulfilling a deal, I've had problems with new people following through with transactions. It wasn't ever stated that they had a hardship, but that they found something other to buy, or just changed their minds or whatever.

These are ticking me off because in two cases I've had the knives boxed and labeled and ready to go. Wasted my time.

I really like to get a Busse family blade to someone who has never tried one, but this hasn't worked out too well for me lately.

Thanks for letting me vent, Bros.

Heh - I've had a couple wierd ones lately with me offering people. One was an honest oversight/mistake, the other, well I have no idea.
I think there's something in the air.
Or you never know, maybe they were new and read a Busse opposing opinion somewhere...

Hey Chuck I am sorry and I sent you a e-mail. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this am. I am a new guy and I have a pretty good rep so far and I want to keep it that way. So go check your mail and get back to me.

Thanks,
Lee

That's just not right. Short of a serious catastrophe (which should be explained), there is no excuse to back out once the deal's made.

To do so is irresponsible and wrong. To not even offer an explanation is plain rude and disrespectful. Newbie or not. It's inexcusable.

Edit: Dobywon - not referring to you here, we just posted together.

Happened to me all the time when I took orders, and still does I don't take $ up front for my knives, and when the knife was done, quite often, the funds had been spent somewhere else. Life comes before knives, and things happen. Just sell the knife to someone else. A couple of times it was a real inconvenience. But not enough to make me change my business practice of no money up front.

Another thing that comes to mind too. If I send an offer and I don't hear anything back within say, 36 hours, I may have changed my mind or something.

I hope when the time comes and I have enough money to spend, I will find someone who will give me this opportunity. Since I came here, I read a lot in this forum, checked the sales forum, always imagining what my first Busse blade might be.
Right now, I'm just a registered user, still feel like the new guy and as a bonus I do live in Germany. That's just makes you wanna sell me something and deal with the custom form etc. :D These facts will not make it easy to get a deal, but for now I have to save up some more money, think about a possible upgrade and enjoy Busse knives at least online.

P.S. At least I got a Battle Rat...;)

Take care,
CZ

I have had a few decide not to do a deal.

Recently I had a trade offer, and I just took way too long responding to him. It never was a deal (because I had not said I accepted, let alone took mine off the list, or packed it up ect), it was just his generous offer to me.

Another, I had a Canadian make me a good offer on a knife, sent me pay pal for more to cover shipping, then wanted me to misstate the value on a customs form by a lot. He was cool about it, but I would have wished it had been brought up before I had it all ready to ship and was on my way to do so. He told me to keep the extra money for the shipping to make up for the trouble, but I just sent it all back to him and re listed.

I have not been burned yet (had one 1st time poster make an offer and ask me to hold it for a time) thought I was going to have relist, but he came through.

I had one guy in Nigeria give me a great deal.

He sent me an extra $2,000 over and above the price of the knife to cover the shipping and extra paperwork.

The funds will even get directly deposited into my account... no IRS to worry about.

The funds should clear in another week and then- BANG! MORE INFI!!!

I gotta say - you back out for a "better deal" yer a turd. No two ways about it. Not very kind. I've had two occassions that I've pulled the trigger too early - each time I HONORED THE EXISTING DEAL.

Could I have saved a few bucks? Yep. Integrity and honor isn't worth a few bucks.

Someone pulls that, they go on my never-to-be-traded-with-again list.

It happens from both sides. I had a guy who quoted me a price. I said "I'll take it." While taking pictures of the knife to confirm condition, he "fell back in love with it." So... no knife for me. :p

Seems leaving iTrader feedback has become something of a chore for some lately too. I do my part and leave immediate and great feedback, but nothing from the other end.

For a Hog, I could definitely see that. I'd let that one pass. I don't want to get between a man and his INFI. The equivalent to "I found it cheaper" is "I found a bigger sucker."

Heck, I had a guy that GOT a better offer on a Rat Trap once and still sold it to me. I've since sold it away. I need to send him some $ for his kindness at the time. This was. . . 2 years ago. Anyone heard from Darkestthicket at all lately? I don't have an email address and Paypal probably doesn't keep records that far back. I stand corrected - they do. But is his acct still active? Anyone with current records I'd appreciate it.

what about someone that posts in the "WTB" section........then offers a trade..

Just so wondering minds will know, I had agreed to trade my BAD for Chuck's smogwarden and when I got it out to get ready to ship I started thinking that it would make a good combo with my custom ASH to do a piggyback with. So I e-mailed Chuck and told him that if he had not already shipped the SW that I was just going to keep the BAD, but if he had already mailed it I would go ahead and send it. So thats what provocked him to start this thread. I never should have said that and I was wrong for doing so. I have contacted Chuck and told him I was sorry and if he wasnt to mad that I would go ahead and do the trade. I have never backed out of a commitment to buy and shouldnt have done this but I hope this dosent keep anyone from dealing with me in the future. I have estabished a pretty good itrader feedback, and the guys I have dealt with I hope will chime in and maybe offer a little support. Well Im done worrying about it and am going to bed.

Sorry Chuck the BAD will be in the mail in the am.

You're right Chuck. I got two buyers for my HOFSH a month ago. Both backed out from the deal:grumpy:

Now I got another one who wanted to buy the basic 7 seal and when I sent him my paypal address he said he was interested in another knife.

I will stand up for dobywon. Lee and I completed a smooth transaction a couple of months ago. Also, he is the only person I have done business with that has left me feedback on iTrader. So there's another plus for him!!
