OT: What's with...

I did a deal with dobywon last month. Went great and I would definately deal with him again.

I've had it happen a few times over the past month or two. It sucks, but with these economic times, I kinda understand.

First time I tried to buy a knife here I said I'd take it, worked out a deal, and even mailed the PMO to the guy, then found out wifey and I might have to do IVF and started feeling ill about spending 550$ on a knife. The guy I made the deal with was such a gentleman that he returned the MO.

That experience sucked for him, obviously, but it also sucked for me because it's embarrassing to admit that it happened at all. The guy on the other end was truly a gentleman, and that kinda sealed the deal for me. Later on, I actually was able to get my first Busse in a trade with another HOG who is an outstanding guy. Glad that my mistakes can be overlooked.

Even more genteel...the original gentleman never mentioned a word about our broke-down deal. Thanks for that, sir.

Btw...Hey Chuck, check your email, brother. Tell Barb I said hello. Hope you're both well.

Yeah life happens...but it doesn't make it right just because everyone is doing it.

I meant everyone was blaming "it" on the economy. Whatever "it" may be...

"People sure are backing out of a lot of deals lately, must be the economy."

"Gas is up, now its down, must be the economy."

"Wife's cheating again, must be the economy."

"Dog's sick, mues be the economy."

I stand by "Life happens," and will add that it doesn't pay to hold a grudge.

Young man, yours is an entirely different situation.

Family problems will always be understood. Always.

Also, you were up front about it. Please don't let this cross your mind again.

I, too, have had more problems in recent months. I put it down to two things: 1) sure, the economy and 2) new folks. I don't get upset with new folks ... I just figure they don't understand that there's a code. I try to take this into account when I'm dealing with them.

Ranting a bit does make one feel better, no?

I'm still out there. And I'm still taking chances. :)

Dobywon -- it's good of you to fess up. You're OK in my book.

Your word is your bond.

Saving $50 on a knife is small stuff compared to lying to someone and backing out on a deal.

Thanks to the guys whohave my back. I have never backed out of a purchase agreement this was for a trade and I made it right I hope.

what about someone that posts in the "WTB" section........then offers a trade..

Are you saying that you responded to a WTB and they rebounded with a trade?

There have been many times when I've wanted to post in there for certain Busses but I figured I better have, well...maybe twice what I might expect to pay for what I'm after as not to look like a dumbass:foot:
I can't remember ever doing it because I know what I'm looking for will kill my wallet.

That place is like the loan officer's desk. You better have your stuff in order before you apply;)

...
Or you never know, maybe they were new...

It's happened to me as well, and it is not new people here, some have many hundreds of posts.

Some at least have sent an IM saying they are backing out, others just disappear. But neither is right, and these folks have showed their true character and lack of honor.

I worked in a gun store for awhile and did the register at lunchtime spelling the regular cashier. One day a wife came in with the shotgun her husband bought the day before. She was returning it and you could tell by her body language it was going to be a "yes mamm" transaction. She was a cutie, but better him than me ;)

Just caught this, brother. Thanks for gettin' my back. Every time I get some positive energy from you I tell myself to make sure I pay it forward. Someday I'll be able to help you out.

And as far as Lee goes, he's always been straightforward and friendly with me. I think this was an honest brain-fart, and it's been fixed. As long as the other party in the trade is happy with what he got in hand, I'm all for squashing this one.

Now...there's another guy who's been lurking around the EE and making offers on knives, then not paying and instead making offers on other knives. THAT'S not cool at all.

I haven't been here too long, but I hope my rep is solid. Hell, it's all we have when we can't even shake each others' hands, no?
