-Or is this one of those things where if you tell it won't come true?
Lately, I tend to think of New Years as a time to ponder ways to better one's existence in some aspect in the next year: To give the next year an achievable focus and a theme. Also, in stepping onto that new path, to open up other possibilities in life.
Last year I made a commitment to begin learning another language -either French or music. I took up guitar and bought some French language books. Now I'm still trundling along through bass and am taking lessons. Slow but very enjoyable. French is on the back-burner now, but I still intend to learn it. This is fun.
For 2003, my commitment to myself is to be 30lbs lighter by this time next year and keep it that way, and preferably by June. That would put me at the same weight I was at 24 years old. 1 pound a week ought to do it. Seems very reasonable when I think about it that way... EDIT: As of Jan 1, 2003 I am 205lbs. (I guess this is a public declaration to help motivate me.)
What other interesting resolutions are being made? I wonder what Saddam is doing to better himself this year? Does the UN make New Year's resolutions?
What about you? I need more ideas, because at 31 I am nearly perfect.
