Football season is almost upon us. Andy mentioned in another thread today that, “knife people don’t like football for some reason.” I can’t believe that is true, so I started this thread to find out.

Please post a picture of a Fiddleback knife with a jersey, hat, poster, or some other kind of football memorabilia that shows who your favorite team is. Feel free to add some text to explain why you like team.

I am a Denver Bronco fan. I first became a fan when John Elway got drafted there. I have supported the team ever since through good years and the others.

Who is your Team??

Phil

Native Texan born and raised in Dallas Texas. Take a guess..... :D

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
My mother's side of the family is from around the area, so naturally we all had to be Steelers fans.

College: Clemson University and East Carolina University
I was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. In South Carolina, there is only two sides...Good and Evil....Clemson and USC.....Go Tigers!
Also, I have to root for the Pirates as it is where I went to college.

Will post some pictures later when I get back to the house.

Interesting, football and knives happen to be a couple of my most favorite things.

Manchester United!!!!, Different Football I know.....but our season started soon too.

I scatter myself around and basically wind up pulling for the South. My absolute favorite team is LSU, but I went to FSU, so I pull for the Noles unless they play LSU. I root for Atlanta, the Saints and Tampa in the pro's.

I pull for UofM(grew up there) and the SeaHawks because I liked their logo best when I played madden in middle school

The Steelers, right? With 6 Super Bowls, the choice is clear, isn't it?

Uh......NO. I would be a Cowboy fan. A fan of the winner of the last Superbowl appearance with between the teams (I'll post a pic of my Superbowl ticket stub when I can). Also a fan of the team that leads the results total for the Dallas/Pittsburgh series. ;)

E-A-G-L-E-S!!! Go Iggles!

I already made this suggestion in the Handle Request and Suggestions thread, but I'm going to make it one more time here and then not do it again so I don't sound like a broken record :)

A Themed Fiddleback Friday where all of the handle materials match the colors of NFL teams would be a ton of fun. It would be a great way to kick off the NFL season each year.

Personally, I would love to do it for the NHL season too, although orange and black handles are relatively common, so they are readily available for my team already. Go Flyers!

The referenced Super Bowl was perhaps the worst day of my football life. I loved Coach Cowher, but I have never been able to forgive him for that loss. I clearly felt that Pittsburgh was the better team that season, and I felt that it was his fault the score ended up as it did.

My brother in law moved to DFW area in about 1981 (born and raised in western PA). Several Christmases ago he gave me a Cowboy hat mainly as a joke/dig. I wear it when I have to inspect the septic tank, but other than that, it has never been on my head.

Edit: I do remember the 1975 and 1978 Championship games. I am that old. Pittsburgh and Dallas was a great AFC/NFC rivalry in the 70s. That is what made 1995 so hard for us all. Almost 10 years later, and we still cannot forgive/forget.

On the college scene we are a house divided but come November it does make for some exciting action up in Jacksonville:

When we lived in Roswell, Georgia we frequently made the trip to Athens to do some serious tailgating and root for the Dawgs:

While Andy's favorite Florida team will no doubt have a better season, we'll have plenty of our favorite mixers on hand to quell the pain routing for the Gators:

Our favorite professional teams are the Steelers and the Green Bay Packers. Prior to moving to Florida, we lived in the Twin Cities. One of the highlights of living on the tundra was to see a Packers Game at Lambeau Field. Here is a shot of me next to the larger than life statue of the man himself, Vince Lombardi:

Being at Lambeau Field was an incredible experience, fortunately we had nice weather and our butt cracks didn't freeze shut ;)

Phil, I knew there was a reason I liked you. ;)

Living in Denver for 40+ years has made me a lifelong Denver Broncos fan. There have been some good years and some really really bad years along the way, but I still bleed orange.

ETA: I always know when preseason starts. We watched the opening day preseason game the day we got married 21 years ago (we were so wiped out after the ceremony and reception and getting to the hotel and everything that we just crashed and watched the Broncos for a while). Today's our anniversary and the Broncos first preseason game is tonight.

Prom52, this is getting too weird. I also lived near the Twin Cities, in Chaska, MN from 92 through 94. In 95 I moved to Butler, just in time for the loss to the cowboys in Super Bowl XXX. I will come clean though, I was born in suburban Philadelphia, and both my parents and extended family hail/ed from there. We moved to NE PA when I was only 2. I just have never become a fan of any Philly teams. Perhaps because I do not like the city. Having lived near several cities in the U.S., I must say that my favorite is Minneapolis/St. Paul. Pittsburgh runs a very close second. But, the winters in Pittsburgh are balmy by comparison.

So I have to ask, have you ever lived in Virginia, West Virginia, South Carolina or Texas? These are the other states that I have hung my hat in.

Born and raised in central MD, so I am a Ravens fan through and through. I drifted from team to team before we got them. In between the Superbowls, my back up team was the New England Patriots, I liked them. Until that fateful AFC championship game. Now I am just a Ravens fan.

If I do catch a college football game, I am a Terps fan.

PM sent so we don't mung the thread up too badly......yes to Roanoke, VA for a couple of years. I agree with your assessment of the cities you mentioned. In addition to the Twin Cities and Pittsburgh, I would have to add St Louis.....another great sports town.

This is understandable, but being an avid Steeler fan, I must question the soundness of your thinking. Nobody was more upset when the Browns moved to Baltimore than Pittsburgh fans. The rivalry was that strong. And this is why all Steeler fans, by definition, hate the Ravens.

My son moved to MD in 2007, and lives between Baltimore and Annapolis off of I97. He married a nice native girl who luckily is a Redskins fan, else they probably would be divorced by now. Well, that last statement is stretching the truth as they both are Christians, and I could not ever imagine a divorce. But the marriage would have never happened in the first place had she been a Ravens fan. This last statement I believe in my heart to be the truth.

My "blood" runs Orange and I go to every UT game at home that I can and a few away games. As far as the Pro's go I am still with the Big Orange as when Peyton left most of us here in Tn. went with him in our hearts and he ended up in Denver ~~
so now it is go Bronco's.!!
