OT: Windows Got Me Again

A cheap and simple way to back up data is to get yourself an additional hard drive and install it in a USB drive enclosure, such as one of the ones shown here. There are enclosures for both 3.5" (desktop) and 2.5" (laptop) hard drives. Then you just plug the drive into a USB slot and your computer will recognise it and you can copy data to it.

If the other computer is on a local area network, I believe you can use the windows backup utility to do this.

If you have to access the other computer through the Internet, you will probably have to download some third-party software. I don't have any recommendations here since I haven't used any 3rd party backup utilities.

I have three computer in my home/office lan. Would be a big help if someone could lead me through the process of backing up to the main computer and one of the others at the same time and automatically through the LAN.

Thanks

Followup: I got it all back. You guys are the shizzle. I must've made many tweaks to that poor laptop without realizing it, as it runs like crap now - but it runs. I can sort it out later.

The next time we're having a dry spell here I'll put up some of those videos so that you can see what kind of mischief bored sailors indulge in. Quite humorous but not topical.
