OT: You might be a gun nut if.....

Years ago I left an IPSC match to drive my brother to the airport. Had my Spyderco police folder (custom with Titanium scales and ATS-34) in one pocket, and a half-dozen rounds of .45 ACP mixed in with my pocket change in the other.

When I emptied my pockets into the tray, the security cop (he was a real one back then, not some rude minimum wage know-nothing punk like they have now), asked me about it, and what's more recognized the H&G 68 200 gr. hard cast load I was using and didn't bat an eye. Just commented on it and let me see my brother to the plane. The blade passed muster as well, being exactly 3 7/8" in length, so legal by the airline standards.

Nowadays I would probably spend the rest of my life in jail, and lose a $150 knife to boot.

Bush was here twice. My friend came back after work and found his car gone. He called the police and it had been towed because it was on Bush's route and he found it finally. Another friend had a note on his car that the Secret Service had searched it.

I try never to take anything like that to work cause my building would probably be on the route ;)

Danny,

That rifle belonged to one of my buyu (Danny, if you ever get the chance, train with Matt. He'll show you how much damage a little guy can do, and his taijutsu is superb). Here is his description: FAL built on a gear-logo Imbel receiver and from a premium STG-58 kit, FSE fire control parts, and ERGO palm-shelf grip.

The following work was performed by Ed Vandenberg:

-Turn from blank, install, and headspace a Shilen match-grade heavy barrel
-Install free-float handguard
-Perform trigger job: re-cut contact surfaces and install pre-load and overtravel adjustment screws
-blast and park upper assembly

The following I've added myself:
-Custom, short LOP lead-filled buttstock with adjustable cheekpiece
-New custom handguard with added cooling vents and integral handguard rail

Included...TAPCO stripper-clip topcover and a Vandenberg A-2 style rear sight with Bob Jones hooded and interchangeable apertures.

Here is what that gun can do with good ammo:

Anyway, anyone in or near Cookeville, TN that wants real, industrial-strength martial arts, I give Matt my highest recommendation.

That sounds like an expensive piece, but one worth keeping. Why did you go with the stripper clip top?

That's all stuff Matt put on. Email him- he'd be happy to talk to a fellow X-kanner, and he is both a shooter and an engineer. Think it was because of the rail, though, to quickly mount a scope on- don't believe Matt actually cared that he could also use a stripper clip.

Haven't had the chance yet, but I plan on mounting a Trijicon AccuPoint 3x9 Scope. That will give me a scope that will acquire quickly, but still have the magnification needed for 5 or 600 meter shots. If I ever get to where I can hit those regularly, maybe I'll think about getting a PSS again (sold my PSS as part of the fund-raising process for this rifle)!

John

Why not? If you lose your loading tool, you've got one on the gun - just insert an empty magazine.

Three shots into .30" center to center? I could do that at ten yards off a bench on a really good day. If I hit a softball at a hundred yards I'm happy!

John, I had a 40XB Repeater 308 pillar bedded and with 3x9 Leupold VX III and bipod set up for social work using Federal Match 168 gr - I didn't shoot that well fifteen years ago and I could see back then!

Something like this?

Don't laugh too hard. I know some people that're getting close to this.

Wife sez, "What, no bayonet?"

and "Wonder what his varmint dejour is?"

Lastly, "Every gun like that needs a voice amplifier so you can yell things at the bad guy, like 'DIE MF!' and all the things that you see on the bumper stickers at the gun shows."

You see why I love her so much?

Her picture below with "Christian Slater," in our back yard and a picture of me and her again with "Blackie." Raised in captivity possums are gentle creatures.

I like pictures of women when they have such good hearts you can see it through the print, through the dots on the page.

You must be a far nicer guy than you've been willing to admit, Bill Marsh.

Hey, the possum's cute too! Many parts are edible.

How could I let this thread get away without noticing Spectre's FNFAL? (or whatever he wants to call it)

This is the gun we heard so much anxiety about. He actually sold weapons to get this gun. This was his dream. And now he has it in his hot little hands.

Congratulations, John. When you have a hobby so intertwined with your life and philosophy, aquiring a firearm with meaning is a good experience.

Bill Marsh,

My old boss found a baby opossum on it's mom who had been killed by a car. She hid it at work in her pocket and fed it canned dog milk from a dropper and taught it to use the litter box. It grew to be HUGE, and was friendly, but would play dead or snarl if you surprised it. It was so cool! It's hair was so soft and the tail feels really weird. She would hang from your arm by her tail.

She died of osteoporosis I think at about 3 or 4. But my boss after that kind of became opossum rescue and has raised I'm not sure but 3 or 4 over the last 20 years. She's retired now. Maybe raising them full time ;) They are VERY cool animals. Hers was a big scrambled egg lover

Why, thanks, munk. One of these days, we'll get a chance to wander through some woods together. (I would say desert, but I'm allergic to desert.)
