Greetings,

What are some of the other non 'tacticool' things you tend to collect? Especially as you might be getting older.

Two I've gotten into more recently:

Silver Coins (because I can't afford gold)...it's kind of an interesting little semi-hobby for me...there's all the various combinations and whatnot..a whole plethora of various types/kinds/finishes/mintages/etc. I am also doing it as an investment...mostly picking up a few a year, on deeply discounted 1-hr.-type sales if I can....hoping that in 20 years, there might a few in there that'll bring at least a modest little return...

I'm also kind of an action movie buff (if I like it, I'm still one of those dinosaurs that will buy the DVD or Blu-Ray), and for some reason recently, I've started getting some of the diecast metal cars from some of the movies, particularly the 1/24 sized versions (about the size of a shoe box) that run about $20. Some of the little 'Hotwheels/matchbox' versions too. You know, Man-cave fodder. I dunno, I guess I like the idea that they're something I can have out/displayed anywhere and look at any time I want. Or maybe I just remember when Tonka toys were made of metal and never really grew up...and these too, not banking on it, but if kept 'Mint in Box' might be worth a buck or two down the road...who knows...fun in the mean time.

What do you have?

Alright let's see.

I've got a nice assortment of firearms, to the point I don't even remember what all I have exactly.

I've got kerosene lamps from various manufacturers and Dietz lanterns, as well as a couple of Coleman lanterns and an Aladdin lamp.

I've got a mess of DVDs with movies and old TV series like Farscape, M*A*S*H and the Three Stooges.

I've got a lot of PS3 games, but I haven't played most of them.

DVD'S, die cast cars ( I've got a wall full ), airguns, tools, and stickers ( on the DVD cabinet )
The die cast cars are the only true collection as everything else is just an accumulation that gets used.

Here's a glimpse of a small portion of the die cast.

Mostly hot wheels and others of the same scale such as Johnny lightening, but there are some slightly larger scale " adult collectable " types.
A lot of Pontiac GTO'S

Flashlights. :)

My collection has grown a little bit since then, but this is my most recent shot of them. Like my knives, it's a pain to round them all up because some of them live in designated places (truck dash, backpacks, etc.).

The only problem I have with flashlights is too many of them have magnetic bases, making them dangerous to carry when I've got a cellphone or MP3 player on me.

I collect shot glasses. It started out only as places i had gone, but people started giving them to me so it kinda grew. Still mostly places I’ve been. If I go to someplace again, I get another. We go to the beach every year so I have lots of those. I also collect die cast cars. Whatever I see that I like. Mostly fords, mustangs, hot rods, muscle cars and Ferrari’s. I open mine though, unless it’s really rare. Those two collections are still mostly boxed up in a closet as I lost my office to kids who needed rooms. I still add to them. One more moves out and I get my office back. Which brings me to.... kids. I seem to collect them. We have 5. Lastly, I built cars also and usually have 2 at any time. One complete and running, and one project. Once done, I’ll keep both awhile then once the next project is decided, I sell whichever fits best to replace with the new one.

Diecast cars/motorcycle. I've probably got 50 or so at this point. And not the NASCAR stuff (though I do have some), but classic race cars from Indy, F1, LeMans, Can-Am, etc. in price ranges from $30 all the way to some worth a few hundred.

Also sort of collect beer glasses. It's about all we drink out of at the house anymore... lol
I buy a glass anytime I'm at a new brew house, or if a rep is at the local distributor, I'll pick up a 6-er of whatever he's pushing just for the free glass or mug. I've even got a few cool ones from the Germany pavilion at Epcot/Disney World. Heck, I've even been known to tip a bartender an extra buck or two to let me 'acquire' one if it's got a logo on it I really want, especially if I'm traveling, and it a regional beer I can't at home.

Just some of the cars...

I'm currently colllecting:
U.S. Cents.
Compasses.
Refrigerator magnets.

I have collections of, but quit acquiring:
Depression glass.
Irish Waterford.
Unmounted gem stones.
S&W revolvers (liquidating).
.22LR turnbolts.
WW1 issue military rifles.
American pocket watches.
Vintage Omega wristwatches.

20th century office chairs. Wood with arms. Wood or leather seat. Just picked up a pair of bankers chairs that normally go for around 3-400.00 each - 23.00 for the pair and they were in pretty good condition. Screwed up and rehabbed my father in laws old boy scout axe and I am now up to around 100. .22's - rifles and pistols. 20th century studio pottery - love Warren Mckenzies work.

watches, flashlights, knives, that's mostly it. I'm reducing my watch group a little at a time, can't keep them all permanently. I have a group of lights that I use frequently, the rest are too old to be worth selling (old in flashlight terms isn't that old in calendar terms). I occasionally reduce my knives a little bit, focusing on the ones that I like the most and use the most.

Non firearm, watch, knife collections:
Compasses.
Glass (Depression, Early American Pressed, Irish Waterford Bud Vases).
Hiking Staffs.
Turned Wood Bowls.
U.S. and World Copper (Bronze) Coins.

American pressed glass footed whisky tumbler from the 1860s - 1880s:
