Ferret - They should say Spyderco on the knife if it is made by us.
We made some Delicas for Smith & Wesson a while back but they just had their logo inserted in the handle. the tang said Spyderco.
We made a run of Q's for H & K.
If they look like Spyderco and they don't say Spyderco, then they're knock offs (except for some Benchmade models that are permited with the round hole under license.
You wouldn't think that a company like S & W would knock off other companies, but they just subcontract out the knife mfg. to Taylor. He produces the knife. They probably don't know they're knock offs.
