Other hobbies besides bushcraft?

For me, my primary hobby is motorcycles. I have a 2003 Kawasaki Concours and a 2005 Russian Ural with a sidecar. I like to travel and camp by motorcycle, do my own mechanical work on them, etc.

I also have a passing but growing interest in guns/shooting, and I am a voracious and compulsive reader of almost anything. Family stuff also fills a lot of my time.

Love to canoe, portage into all kinds of great remote places. Also a tournament fisherman. And I draw cartoons in my spare time.

Just wanted to update with a pic of my last ride of the season

I've always thought it was cool that you did that.
If you were ever of a mind to post up some pics of your paintings, a lot of people would probably enjoy seeing them. I know I would.

trail running has gone to the top for me of late; I'm a lifelong hiker/backpacker and was slowly gravitating towards longer and longer hikes- trail running was a natural extension of this

I still do a lot of hiking/backpacking and in the winter x-country skiing and snowshoeing- I recently bought a pair of running snowshoes to give that a go when the snow is too deep to run :D

my hunting and fishing while certainly enjoyable, has become less a hobby and more of utilitarian endeavor- I prefer to eat wild meat (although a good ribeye now and gain is enjoyable :))

Besides the obvious outdoors activites like hiking camping and wish I had more time for backpacking. I love to ride my bike on the twisty back roads here in SO CALI, Which are some of the best roads in the country. Funny thing I been without a bike for a week now. Crushed last wed going around a corner under power with cold tires.
Also been doing some ocean Kayaking and fishing. On some of those hot days with the temp around 90+ .. It just better to be on the water then hiking on exposed trails. Lets not even mention the work out you get after paddling 10+ miles in the ocean. Would love to get into hunting but here in CA its hard to figure out where I can or can't hunt. Fines are steep if you make an honest mistake. No one want to share any information what so ever. So I droped the idea of ever going hunting.

^ you need to hook up with a competent, trustworthy local hunter to show you the ropes- it's not overly complicated when someone who has the background can show you how to get started; might be worth giving the local game warden a shout and see if he can hook you up with someone he knows in the area

it's a shame we have folks who want to hunt, but can't find someone who will help them get started out on the right foot; we're losing far too many hunters and potential hunters (and anglers) each year :(

Mtwarden, I went to get my hunting license, I thought if I hang around and get to talk to people maybe someone would let me know about where I can go rabbit hunting. I wanted to start small learn the ropes, Just do it the right way. Not one person wanted to share any information. They all told me to get the hunting rules booklet and read it.. Well I done it, Called the the phone # in the booklet to get more information and clear out the questions I had.. After about a month of trying to get information I just gave up its not worth it. I do know that if I go on to the wrong place or the wrong time or if I make any of the other mistakes that are listed. If you read the rule book here in CA It just scary how long it is . By the time they would be done with me. I would be sorry that I even thought about it in the first place. It is just safer and cheaper to use my CZ for target practice.

"Being a game hunter and living in Southern California has its challenges. The biggest problem is knowing where you can legally discharge a firearm. Each county in California has its own firearms ordinance, so Netcomp creates its maps starting with the County Ordinance. There are also many other agencies involved such as Federal, State, County, City, BLM, Private, Fish and Game, OHV, Forestry, University, Indian and Preserves. The average hunter has no way of knowing which jurisdiction prevails. The collection of data we use tries to account for all these factors and agencies...."........................ My favorite hobby is photography, particularly macro and low-light photography, but I also enjoy landscaping, gardening, and woodworking

I enjoy gardening also, it's been a while though. Grew everything from swiss chard to pumpkins.

Like so many here, I like photography and when i have enough time, i prefer medium format *film*. I also like developing my own b&w film, but for events and such i shoot a fair bit of digital. You can check out some of my photos here:

Otherwise, i love winter camping, mountain climbing (though i'm not in good physical shape for the technical routes - gotta work on that!) and will begin elk hunting this coming year.

Previously, i used to shoot long distance and really enjoyed reloading for my rifles.

Love being outdoors. In that aspect, I actively go out and collect fossils/residue containing fossils, search through the residue, read a lot of literature on it,... I also love dayhikes and camping. Next to that, I'm a lifeguard and from time to time I give classes on lifeguarding and swimming to kids and adults in my rescue/lifeguard club (unpaid).

I like tour cycling. I brought an older touring bicycle with me, replaced the wheels and crank so far on it. I do have full racks and panniers. I have all my camping equipment and do a lot of stealth camping along the paths and roads. Next year, I'll be in a new area close to the border of CZ. In time, I want to explore those hidden areas. I like the "off the beaten path" routes better for sight seeing and camping, really love old ruins and fortresses.

This is beautiful Neeman. Do you spend an overnight or do you get your 'work' done in a day? I also enjoy 'capturing' mountain images, but due to my lack of skill i generally photograph them.

BTW, is this Israel? Though i've never been there, it also looks how i imagine the Scottish Highlands......

Traditional archery & bowhunting, fly fishing, upland dogs/hunting, xc-skiing. Just lots of different excuses to get outdoors as much as possible.
