Other knives like the GEC #15 caplifter?

Imperial turned out a lot of variations of this jackknife and of a few others, $1.29 originally but I’ve seen the survivors running anywhere from $5 to $15 - that ought to be cheap enough. There are also thousands of old Scout knives (official and camp knives) out there to pickup. OH

Trestle Pines Topper

I got one of those Trestle Pines Caplifter knives and sadly, it is the second worst Queen built knife I own, especially for the price. One of the pins is loose and knife feels like it's about to fall apart... fixable, but the person who finished the knife had a really heavy hand so the scales and bolsters are extremely wavy. Great idea but terrible execution. I really wanted to love it.

To the OP, are you talking about dealer prices or secondary market? Good luck on the former, but compared to secondary prices, both of these Lion Steel options are great!

Reminds me of a Toothpick pattern

Imagine this with a caplifter.... I am anxiously awaiting them, they should be released any day.

I’ve got a Topper which I love, however it came in need of a fair bit of work. I ordered it new from TSA and the blades had side play which I fixed in my vice, re-peened thepins then sanded and polished. The thing was a splitting wedge! Took a fair bit to give it a “Bark River” like grind so it slices now. It comes across as a knife that if I worked there and was told “go make yourself a knife from the spare parts bin” this is what I’d throw together. By this I mean it’s a great idea but nothing seems like it was meant to be on a knife together and like it was done in a rush.

There are vintage knives by Camco, Lipic, and others which can be had cheap. There are new knives by Boker and Hartkopf, but they are not cheap, although some versions of the Hartkopf can be had for less than $100 (the Bokers are new releases and run over $200). As mentioned earlier, Case recently made a version on the small trapper frame, although that is not currently available. Rough Rider made one like the Case called the Tailgate Trapper (RR1746) although it too is out of production and they are not common. It is surprising that the pattern is rarely done. To be honest, its almost easiest to just buy an 85 cap lifter since those are fairly common right now and of high quality.

Ive got an ironwood topper which is flawless.....
Aren't they the last of the Queen made knives?

Low and behold, I checked today and the Rough Rider version showed up on the big bay from a single seller with some NOS. Hard to beat for $15, so I picked one up.

I saw that too. Maybe I need one. Also ordered an Hartkopf Ebony Pocket Knife Cap Lifter
