other tinders for fire piston?

what have you used as tinder in your fire piston?

someone suggested dense pocket lint in a pinch...

I haven't personally tried a fire piston yet.

I think I remember reading that people successfully use punk (rotten wood inside old logs) with fire pistons.

The pistons I've built work with both tinder fungus and charcloth.
