Other Traditional Gear?

1903 Stormy-Kromer hat. 1924 Gibson Mandolin. I also have EVERY set of strings that has ever been on it. I want to get back into using a straight razor. I have one from the mid 1800's but it needs sharpened.

My Mom was an antique dealer when I was growing up. At first I could not relate but as I get older I see her hobby/business had quite an impact.
At first for me it was buildings (art deco ones in NYC and Chicago!) and old farm houses. Then later heavy well built furniture.
Now I find I like real simple stuff like many things the other folks mentioned.

Jackknife,
I sold fleece when it first was introduced. I remember saying to a friend to not count the sheep out just yet. Now the trend in base layers (long johns) is back to wool. I knew the sheep could hang in there. Nothing beats wool. I have a 20+ year old Pendleton blanket that is going out the door /window with me if God forbid the house burns down. I will come back later for the cast iron and pick it up out of the ashes.:)

Here's to cast iron, cane poles, wool, carbon steel and all that cool timeless stuff!
Cool post!
Bill

Fountain pens
Pewter hip flasks with a single malt scotch
Windup pocket watches
And
Japanned black enameled watercolor paint boxes (never leave the house without one!)

I wear Wrangler jeans the cowboy cut ones not the walmart specials. Carry a Old Timer 250T in a homade leather sheath. Wear leather boots.Mechanical watch, still like good flannel shirts.Wear jean jackets alot. Like single action pistols lever action rifles. caplock muzzleloaders. I don't pay anybody to do anything that I can do myself. I still like to wear the older two piece long johns. I would love to find some of the old CPO wool jackets. Wore alot of them when I was a kid, they sure were warm.

Freedom,

This may not be Gear, But aways being around those who came before me in the family, This was a important tool for living off the Land.

I'll second on:
Wrangler cowboy cut, schrade Old Timers, Leather boots (cowboy boots during the summer), jean jackets, I like saa's, but you cant own guns over here.
I rarely wear a watch at all and never pay anybody to do anything that I can do myself.

and I have to add Hand tools to this list, takes a lot more time, but they do a better job (if you know how to use 'em) in my view.
by the way, I live in Germany, so all of that's even more unusual .

I have to say, that I'm glad that there still are people with common sense, and I'm glad, that I've found this forum.

So keep posting

If the scotch isn't around, I still have some of my grandfather's cognac here in the office. According to my father it was there before he joined the family. To ring in the new year with my team we opened a bottle of A.de Luze & Fils. It might not be gear but it worth reporting.

Great thread!
How about some wood fins? :D
