ou31 steel knife

Any info on the steel in english, My japanes is rusty, o wait... I mean non existent. If you can read it give us the composition of the steel please.
 
although, i do not know japese, the article contain some chinese word .
rought meaning :
1)similar to m2 ,with hrs63-64
2)similar to m2 & d2 in the aspects of dispersion of carbide & cutting strength .
3) for the the toughness,it is higer than d3 in 3 times .
4)excellent of anti-weariness.
5)good for making knives.
 
sounds great but it is an add from the steel company from the looks of it. Claims are plentifull in the knife world. If someone knows the composition of the steel and percentages then one of the more educated steel guys on here might be able to shed soem light into the steel and how it relates to known steels. MAke shure to give us your feedback on the steels preformance.

Unless you can tell us what is being measured, a graph does no good.

Shucks, they could have been measuring the shininess of the blade.
 
From SOG website regarding the Kiku knife.

OU-31 steel It is a Micro Fine steel made by Nippon Koshuha Steel Co., Ltd. It features high hardness, HRc 64 and is 3 times tougher than that of D2. Reported to have 10 times longer edge holding than ATS-34 according to the cutting test).
 
I could not find anything about what the steel is made from,but I found a website says it's a tool steel. The graph shows the hardness and the temperature for heattreating. not shininess of the blade. I'm not a steel specialist sorry that's all I know.
