well only a few days in with the izula and already decided to check the sharpness on myself (by accident). rewrapping the handle with paracord and grip slipped along with the sheath, luckily only a knick but still deep enough to draw a good amount of blood. well live and learn and use a vise. any other slip-ups out there or am i the only dipsh@# out here?:o

nope. you're not the only one.

i got my first RAT bite a few weekends ago. it wasn't deep but man it was squirting blood! there are a few who've had to get stitches. there's a thread somewhere.

I don't think my Izula has gotten me yet, but I stabbed myself in the palm, very slightly, with the pass-around HEST.

The exact same thing happened to me... except that it took off a deep 1.5 inch of flesh off my right thumb...:(

 Glad my Izula didn't love me that much, it jumped out while I was wrapping the handle, took a quick slice across my ring finger, and that was that.

I'm pretty sure this is some sort of rite of passage that Izula owners go through.

my rc 4 bit my a couple of weeks ago when i was cleaning some geese i shot, and the scary part was, i barely had any pressure on the knife, and did it cut me...fixed it up with super glue...

oh yes. the day my Izula arrived i was fiddling with it, and stupidly pulled it out the sheath with my thumb in the way  it wasn't a long cut, but it was deep, and bled everywhere. suffice to say, i learned my lesson.

If you play with any good knife, you'll get a knick. I cut myself with my RC-4 on day 2 or 3. You're not alone!

So many cuts that can be avoided, lol. :)

FWIW If you are going to wrap your Izula or H.E.S.T. or any knife for that matter, put two (2) layers of tape, electrical or duct, along the edge, that way you don't have to worry, as much/if at all, about the knife coming out of the sheath and cutting you.

That's what I did when I wrapped my RC-3MILS and thats what I do when I wrap any knife.

BTW the RC-3MILS looks good wrapped, however it will not function with the sheath when it is, at least not how I had wrapped it.

I started to tell the cat not to drip the blood of his prey all over the kitchen floor, when I realized I was doing the dripping ...

The Izula is so sharp I didn't feel the cut ...

I havn't been bitten by my RC-3 yet but it has been less then a week so there is still time. But i do think that i have been cut by most of my knives at one point or another.

None of my RAT knives have taken a significant bite, a little blood here or there, but nothing worth bragging about. My Cold Steel folder on the other hand, JEEBUS. That thing tried to eat my left index finger. I know the thread is still in here somewhere.

man so many threads, :eek:can't find an original, althougth i have seen some nasty cuts. some on myself some on others.

I didn't feel the cut from the RC-6 until I heard a "click", which was the blade stopping against my finger nail. If I did not stop on my nail, I think it would have taken the top of my finger off. And that was just by not paying attention and moving my hand into the blade by accident. I posted it somewhere before, no pics because I didn't want to be laughed at, LOL, comments like "that's not a cut". :)

Where's Boats for this thread? Dig in the older pages for his thread about having been bit. Man he layed himself open :O
Get back on the horse, dont let that Izzy buck ya again!

I found my threads. These are quite funny. I actually just read all of my posts in these threads and I was cracking up the whole time.

This is the main thread that I posted in the WS&S. It is funny as hell. Seriously, you gotta read my posts in there. It's great.

This is the thread I posted in the RAT forum pointing to the other one and it also has pictures of when I took the stitches out.

You know, I just realized I haven't really given any updates on my finger since then. I have regained all range of motion. The scar tissue in the bend of my finger at the knuckle went through a really long phase of developing "extra material" and shedding it. I would get a hard knot and after a while it would peel off. It doesn't do that anymore. The scar tissue has softened up a lot making everything a lot easier. Still no feeling in that finger.
