you would think that working with blades every day your hands would get cut up, but it doesent really happen that way for me. it seems i never cut myself with a knife its always something much more stupid.... for example...... this weekend i was playing in the kitchen useing a new mandolin slicer and wouldent you know it..... the recipe called for beef tip. little did i know that ment the tip of beef's finger. off it went, one clean cut. i had it set to the thickest cut it would make witch thankfully was only about a quarter of an inch but still my finger is much flatter than it once was.

Oh man , that must actually hurt pretty good . You take care of those magic fingers of yousr that sharpen the knives so well . I still have one knife here that I haven't used much that was sharpened by you and I STILL have to be real carefull with it because it's like a freakin straight razor . Hope your finger heals up soon Beef

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Never the slice that gets your attention but the throbbing afterwards, yowsa!!!

This is April 2nd, not April 1st. That said, get well soon. You have mad sharpening skills so we need you healthy. My best wishes to a full (as possible) and speedy recovery.

For some reason, Robin Hood Men in Tights came to mind when Mel Brooks whips out the miniature guillotine

Ouch! is right! I remember slicing the heel of my hand in the "fine julienne" setting of the mandolin once. That was really painful, with all those shredded strips of flesh!

Talk to any ER doc and they will tell you those mandolin slicers give them more business than any other single sharp item.

Happened to me too but did not go all the way through. Was able to flap my pinky tip back on. Got a little light headed from the blood loss.

Beef, you might want to stay out of the kitchen!:p

All kidding aside, I hope you mend quickly!;)

didnt plan on going to the hospital but after 20 min. it was still bleeding through a double wrapped dish cloth. so i though they might have something to stop the bleeding. the ER doc said it was the third one this year ha ha ha.

on the plus side... i went home and finished dinner and it ended up pretty good ha ha. i found the missing chunck of finger too.

That made me cringe. At least it was sharp and hopefully didn't hurt as bad as it could. I used to work in a knife shop that would sharpen meat slicer blades. I would never want to get cut by those nor play frisbee with one.
