ouch

Special request : - Can someone post a pic of the mandolin thing ... so I know what to avoid!

Hope it heals well without loss of nerve sensitivity!

Remember that limbs/flesh placed in ice can be re-attached. One of our guys nearly lost his hand to a machete ... a surgeon saved the hand and most of the fingers. Some use was lost to nerves, which are like elastic and had pinged back so far they were unable to be attached. But a quick bit of thinking saved the day. He got casu-vac'd with his hand in an Ice Bucket

Or could it have been a mandoline?

(not picking on anyone's grammar, just a little joke;)

Ouch Beef! I know how that feel's, as I have done it also, cleaning a Catfish. I will tell you how to stop the huge flow of blood...... or should I say...... what was used on me. Flour........ and lot's of it, along with pressure being applied. Hope you heal up fast!

Cut the tip of my right thumb off using the sharp end of a tire iron to cut a road when no knife was around... Stupid yes it was but learned early on(around 12 years old) to never try to cut with something that's not ment to.

Walked in the house covered in blood, mom gave me a bandaid and some duck tape.

Bummer. I hope it heals up soon. Beef sharpenend my basic 10LE pair #46 and did a great job. I hope you heal soon to sharpen my next busse buy.

Wouldn't the flour make it tempting to dunk in a deep fryer?

bummer.

I have sliced off an entire finger print, severed a nerve, had stitches many times.

Once, I even lost the very tip of my finger and fingernail, but it was small enough it grew back. (this is what happens when some one turns on a bench grinder when your finger is touching it........trying to go over the safety rules with the new guy, and he flips the switch while I am touching the sucker..........I could have killed him!)

I have a meat slicer, and it is basically a serrated wheel of pain!

sorry guys but the pics would be usless .they put some type of gause on it at the hospital that just kind of turns into a giant scab after about 5 min. its stuck on there now and they said if i try and take it off theres gonna be a big chunck of skin that will go with it..... and being that its still a little on the tender side, mostly because i cant stop running it into things, im gonna go ahead and leave it be. i forget its even messed up right untill it comes in contact with whatever i might be trying to grab, then well....... memory refreshed ha ha.

I lopped off a piece of my finger once, didn't even know I did it till about 10 seconds after I did it and it started to hurt and bleed.

Waited about 4 days to go to the doctor's since the chunk wasn't deep enough to reattatch, but it was wide, to see if I could get any pain killers (which of course I didn't get). The only thing the doctor did was wrap my finger in gause and made it look like a fluffy stuffed condom :o
