Ouestion on McMaster-Carr Quench

Has anyone used the 11 second quench oil they sale for 1095 up to 1/4 inch thick?

I think I read it is OK to use but not as good as parks.

I also heard that peanut oil or a mix of motor oil and transmission fluid works.

there was a good thread about this oil. i've also exchanged emails with Walter Davis the origional poster of this thread that i will add the link to. he says that the 11 second oil works well and the slow oil 28 second i think works well for him with his 5160 blades.

Thanks guys, I believe I will give it a try. I'll post some Rockwell results when I get it in.I have been using Parks 50 with excellent results but, having to jump through all the hoops and paying a premium for it has led to searching for an alternative.

It should work, but is not as fast as Park's 50.
