Our new Auction site................

You will have the option to look at auctions ending soon (currently "soon" is set to 3 hours, but we can change that), and you'll be able to look at other categories and such as well.

More detail when it's ready to go.

Kudos to you and Kevin Mike. You guys are really making this forum complete. I have aquired a few good bargains over at Josh's auction site but when this one gets up and going, I know it'll be the best!

For various reasons, some of us only buy online by credit card. Each seller should prominently post methods of acceptable payment, rather than making the buyer serch for it.

This is a great idea! I will be a willing and regular participant. I will reiterate the comments about having various search features. That is definitely important. Maybe I did not read close enough but is this a seperate site or part of the BF site?

One of the worst features on most auctions is the ability to "snipe" or come in at the last few seconds and bid on an item. In fact one company even has a program that snipes for you. This hurts the buyers sometimes and always hurts the sellers. I know, I've been on both ends.
One of the sites, FirstAuction I think, gets around that in a very fair way.

They have their site set up so the auction doesn't end until five minutes has passed since the last bid. Say the auction ends a 3:00 pm, someone comes in at 2:59:30 and bids, now the auction won't end until 3:04:30, unless someone else comes in and bids at 3:02, then the auction can't end till 3:07. See how it works? This discourages the habit of sniping, and helps the seller get top dollar for their item. I strongly recommend it!!

That's a standard feature with the auction software we're looking at.

I've never had trouble with sniping because I put down what I believe the product is worth and if someone outbids me, so be it.

Far worse are the jerk weeds that bid up an item and don't come through, this happens on the auctions at blade auction and sometimes at e-bay. Once I told someone that this guy had bid on all the Spydie militaries in order to get the best price and stiff everybody else. He sold me the knife at his reserve and so I got a good deal. The auction houses need to toss the jerks out period. If I had an auction site, maybe I'd make people put down their Credit Card numbers so if they default a penalty might be assessed.

Posting photo's will get more attention which
will get more bids.
Feedback is a good way to gauge the credibility of the person your doing business
with.

Would it be possible to have auctioned, not only knives, but knife making materials, equipment, etc?

I've read all the posts here and haven't seen the one thing I'd most like on eBay. I realize this would be very expensive to provide but I'd like to be able to search ALL the completed auctions, to get an idea of what range various things have sold in previously. Given the mammoth size of eBay this will never occur but on a new site dedicated to one specific type of item????

Value is in the eyes of the purchaser and knowing what has been spent (paid) historically for various knives would be very useful for both collectors and sellers.

An example: the 1982 Remington Jumbo Trapper Reproduction (R1123 I believe) is very collectable. I've seen them go for anywhere from $180 to over $600 on eBay, that's useful info. With the price of disk so low it's seems like a history could be maintained. I'd pay extra for the privilege of accessing that information.
