Be sure to give us your comments and suggestions regarding the look, content, and navigation. We'll be changing it shortly to another layout (currently in the works), but I'd like your ideas so that we can make this better and more user friendly, in addition to having more of what you want to see feature wise.

Mike,
I have been trying to subscribe to the magazine. I have been unable to subscribe on line. After I get to the check out screen, I see the block to order off line in the other block there is nothing for me to click on. Thanks for your help.

Looking foward to Jan.much larger issue.

Cool, SSL worked like a charm even with my freaking WebTV. Skip the shipping part and you're in like Flint.

Since you asked for comments...here are my inputs/opinions to help improve future issues. The Speedtech article is mostly cut and paste from their own website and has one inaccuracy. When talking about the slim version, Mike Turber's article states, "The pricing and handle color options are the same as the standard Synergy." A post by Jim O'Young on 19 Oct 99 http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum32/HTML/000110.html says "The slim handles are only available in the solid colors: black, bordeaux red, green & pewter". I understand this to mean California Camo colors are not available on the slim. Further proof of the cut and paste is the following statement in Mike's article, "named after our corporate colors." Sounds like Speedtech wrote that line and is a direct cut off their web site. A writer would write "named after their (Speedtech's) corporate colors". I hate to recommend you getting someone from the company to proof your articles first, but it would help guarentee their accuracy. FWIW, their website also is misleading in this area.

In the knife comparison, it says The Cold Steel weighs 15.728 oz. In the next paragraph it says "The Busse weighs in at 15.136 oz. A lightweight compared to the Trail Master but it still has enough "beef" to get the job done". Calling one knife a lightweight over .592 oz??? Pretty small difference in weight to use the word, lightweight don't you think?

Overall, pretty good for a first issue.

Ahhhh.... Much better!

I opted for the Next Day delivery.... I'm looking forward to reading the magazine tomorrow!!!

Self improvement is a hobby of mine :).

Initial impressions are very good, especially the Net-related articles and the tests. Mike's personal experiences seem to always "read" well.

Navigation-wise, I'd like to be able to jump through articles I want to read later, to get to another one without going back to the contents - maybe have the footer abbrev. each article name (color ID each, too?) for a jump feature.

The header and footer designs are nice but maybe could be crisper. 'Course this is all on my WebTV (Sony TV); on my workstation it'll appear different. Usually have a better picture here, though.

Glad I got my subscription in!

The navigation structure will most likely change before the actual issue comes out. Larger issues will require a simpler yet more complex navigation.

The SpeedTech article used mostly information supplied by Jim O'Young. It was more of an informative article and not so much a review.

The upcoming "REAL" issues will be much more in depth and I will have a POS of the month award as well as my KICK ASS knife of the month award.

I have already picked the POS award for the January issue. It will be worth $2.49 just to read that one

Guys,

The "continue shopping" link from the subscription link (yeah redundant I know) DOESN'T work.

How about a monthly debate between two Forum moderators, like what they used to have on "60 Minutes" - "Point / Counter Point".

Say, a debate between Vampire Gerbil and Cliff Stamp on all kinds of subjects. For example :

VG - "Well, Cliff, looks like the trend towards Damascus as a true utility steel is taking hold as more and more 'user' knives are being made from it, and then there's Stamascus..."

CS - "Vampire Gerbil, you ignorant sl*t, there is NO relationship between the recent upsurge in sales - there are simply fewer collectors willing to pay for Damascus-bladed large, expensive knives and settling for smaller utility-type blades. Your mascara is smudged."

OK, maybe it loses something in print vs. on TV, but you see what I mean.

Hey you asked for ideas!!
