Our Trial issue for our new Online magazine is up!

Under the what's new section one of the spyderco links takes you to a picture of a Smith and Wesson.

In the magazine I would like to a monthly review concentrating on custom knives.

I like the preview and I am in for the year.

Thanks Mike and Spark and everyone for a

Excellent work! Now there is no doubt that internet forums are in competition with traditional magazines.

I have a few suggestions. Not everyone has cable modem (Mike

) and while you don't have printing cost to worry about, net congestion proves to be an increasing problem. There is a movement now to go back to simpler ways a la Yahoo. Basically, it means to format your pages with tables and use text for links. All the major sites are like that now: Netscape, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista, etc. This too will make navigation easier and more intuitive for ELUs while dramatically decreasing bandwidth while at the same time being able to fit more (a good thing since you said the first issue will be "huge"). Right now, the navigational icons are pretty, but not as clear as it could be and it's graphical. It means, on my Netscape, sometimes, I have to sit for it to reload. That's lost time for me and more cost for you. Just a minor thought! Oh, and the splash graphics are ok, but they too could be cut down I think. I mean, it's not a porn site right? So, graphics doesn't have to fill most of the preset screen. For example, you don't need graphics to say, "Bussee vs. Trailmaster: Let's get ready to rumble!" unless they were special effect fonts (which they weren't). Instead, tons of bandwidth and time can be save if you just use regular text for that (use a fancier font if you prefer).

Nothing major to gripe about though. It's looking good so far and I really enjoyed the Bussee vs. Trailmaster article.

Nice job on the "E-Zine" Mike and Spark. By the way, has anyone speculated that Mike and Spark are different halfs of a single/multiple personality named Spike? (Or Mark). Just wondered

Nice job, count me as a new subscriber who doesn't need the tee shirt

Actually this makes the first knife magazine, pulp or pulse, that I've ever subscribed to. I've read the others, no competition there!

To tell the truth, I like the forum better, because it gives everyone's point of view. But hay, to each his own, best of luck with it.

Harlow, that would be the fattest knife nut ever then, weigh upwards of 500 pounds, going bald on one side of the head, and getting uglier on the other...

Mike, I'm heartbroken about the T-Shirt, being from Canada and all. How about if I pay the shipping?

Hi Mike & Spark. I subscribed today from work, but was unaware of teh shirt offer. I wear a size 2XL, if available. Otherwise, don't waste one on me.

Anent your test of the CS TrailMaster, I have a very early Cabon V one with the convex edge. I hate the damned thing! It won't cut worth squat with the edge on it, even though it seems able to shave. I can't explain this, I can only observe it to be so. One of these days, I will either sell it or re-edge it with a real edge.
