A while ago I posted asking for info on using a clearing saw. Here is where I was going to use it. I decided not to clear any brush at all and let the builder clear just what he had to put up our house.

There is already a clearing there where I park my truck and we will build there.

Didn't actually get to meet Sasquatch this time, but if you look closely at one of the pictures you might see him watching us, or maybe that's the bear who lives there.

I'm almost envious Ben. I love that country but there's too many ifs and buts for me to move up there. :grumpy:

It is beautiful Ben.

It is exactly as I remember it in that early "X Files" show when the environmentalists and the loggers were disappearing, only to be found wrapped in a vast cocoons, suspended from trees.

Don't worry, it was a light thing...keep lots of fuel for your emergency generator, and don't let anyone cut old-growth trees near-by.

You should be fine.

Lovely site. I hope you have many happy times there, and very few frustrations.

Pretty pics, Ben! Khuks will get a work out, no doubt. :D

Enjoy! Looks like a dream. :)

Nope, that's Sasquatch! More definitive proof! (-:

Beautiful place. Happy you are moving there but sad to see more land developed.

Ben,

You live in Sacramento? You don't know Veronica Pettibone do you? She raises goats and lives bordering a reservation? I have bought several animals from her before. I always say I have never been on a plane and never been to Calif, but I have goats who have ;)

Nice spot, Ben. That camper is a new addition since the last time I looked at your truck. Do you have to turn a crack or push a button to make it go up and down?

Sea level. It's just a short walk to the ocean. There are sunami warning and sunami evacuation route signs all over the place. I never paid much attention to them until recently.

I feel the same way. One of our requirements on building is that we don't have to remove any of the big trees. We are paying the surveyor extra bucks to spot the trees on the platt map so the architect can fit the house to the space.

I wish it had some device like that. I have to get inside and push the top up using elbow (and shoulder) grease.

We have only had it a couple of months and this trip was the shake down cruise. It worked out pretty good. We couldn't put any other kind of camper on that 4WD short bed because of center of gravity etc. This pop-up one works great and drives easy with no float or sway and the truck doesn't feel overloaded. The unit only weighs about 700 lbs.

Looks like a good spot for a Khuk Konvention, Ben. We'd promise to keep our voices down.

Hey, we could turn this into a good, old-fashioned barn razing. Errr, make that 'raising'. Absolutely guaranteed until the first gust of wind. Or overweight hummingbird.

Seems to me that a Tsunami hit the coast forty years ago or so. Some unwise types went down to the beach to watch the show and became the show.

That was caused by the Alaska earthquake in 1964. It caused major damage all along the Pacific Coast. Eureka and Crescent City in Northern California were especially hard hit.

Wasn't it Crescent City where the folks got washed out to sea?

Ben, a word of caution;

Most people who build in vegitation leave the 'big trees'. Then the trees fall into their homes, or they have to pay a goodly sum to have an expert remove the tree without damage to the home. Just a thought. I have a very big tree out back, can't put my arms around it, that is going to need a crew and block and tackle to get rid of. It's dying and becoming a hazard.

My house is surrounded by trees. Nealy all of them are not a danger to the house.
