Wouldn't it be awesome to have a great looking bunch of OVB knives in one thread? OVB was the logo and slogan for the Hibbard, Spencer, and Bartlett Hardware Co. for quite a while. You can read about the company history on the Hardware Companies Kollectors Klub web site here http://www.thckk.org/history/hsb.pdf

Here are a couple you may have already seen in other threads:

Here's a new one for us...an OVB 3 blade gents knife. It's around 3.5" long with master spear, pen, and file blade. This knife looks as if it wasn't carried much. The jigging on the bone is still very crisp. The tip bolsters/caps have intergral pins(tommy pins) that help hold them to the liners.

Beautiful old knives Kerry. I especially like that gent's pattern. What fantastic colour in the scales. Thanks for showing them.

Here ya go Kerry (that is a sweet gent's knife:thumbup: )

Nice "cowboy bowie", Eric! Nice folders Kerry AND Eric!
This is my kind of bandwagon, so I'll jump on. I've only got a couple, but here they are;
A Barlow, much loved, and used, by someone named "MATT", if you can see his name scratched into the handle.

This other OVB is one of my favorite HJs, near mint, with great patina. Check out that old picked bone!!

I've added this pic to show the etch. There's some oil smear on the blade; sorry!

Bring'em out everyone!!

Great thread ! That HJ is awesome Charlie,

Charlie...doesn't the picked bone on your HJ look a lot like the bone on that gents knife. :)

It's different to my eye, Kerry. Looks like a different method of "picking". Someone smarter than me should edit them next to each other!! Any help out there???:o

Yeah, that worked pretty good.IMO,the HJ seems to have less a "random" pattern, and has "rows" in the jig pattern But they are real close

That worked Vince. It's easy to see there are definite straight lines of jigging on the HJ whereas the gents knife is somewhat random.

Thanks Vince!
Now I've got a bunch of slips of paper with ones on them. Can you add some zeros, and change them to one hundreds??:D

This I cannot do ;)

I was looking to see if I had any OVB knives and came across this in my box of junk knives. The blade, punch and handle all have damage. The tag says I only paid two dollars for it so I guess I can't complain. - Dan

Hey Rivit, that's a nice find and you can't beat the price.
