Our Very Best Thread EVER!

Got some more OVBs for ya...3 Barlows. The regular Barlow is actually AMOST an OVB (H,S,&B). The lower Daddy Barlow in the image was rehandled by Tony many years ago because the original was in very bad shape. One thing I noticed about the two Daddys was that the OVB stamping on the bolsters was opposite on them. Wierd things happen on production knives sometimes.

Here's something pretty unusual, it's an OVB maize knife. I layed it on a copy of the 1933 OVB catalog listing for the knife. Notice that this knife was cleaned up at one time and the flutes have been ground off on the bolsters in the process. Some fairly serious pitting on the blade but it still is pretty full and works good. Notice the pattern number in the catalog is the same that is on the knife.

I was looking to see if I had any OVB knives and came across this in my box of junk knives. The blade, punch and handle all have damage. The tag says I only paid two dollars for it so I guess I can't complain. - Dan

The price was right! Great old piece for a coupe of bucks!

Wakeup thread, it's time to make another deposit. :)

Here is an OVB classic EE Jack(yep, gonna wake that thread up with this one too). Great looking bone on this guy. See if you notice anything U N U S U A L about this one.

Nice one knifehead! Looks like a NYK Co contract knife. Those handles look mighty pristine:thumbup:

How did I miss that?! Good eyes dpzer! The sad thing is I was actually scrutinizing that reverse shot just to see if there was anything I missed:o . It just looks so natural, oh well, back to knives 101:D:D It's a beaut Kerry, as are the barlows above it.

Nice catch on the double shield dpzer! Eric knew it was a NYKnifeCo contract by the telltale shield shape. I wonder how many of these double shield knives were made. I also think about how proud the original owner of this knife was to carry and use it.

What a nice EE! Seems I've seen those shields elsewhere, hmmmmmmm??

Was pokin around in the archives and was thinkin it would be nice to see some more nice, old OVBs. Smoke 'em if you got 'em :)

That is a great looking knife in extremely nice condition Robin. Any idea what year it was made?

I saw this Hibbard, Spencer and Bartlett, OVB etched display knife at a knife show in Dalton, Georgia earlier this year. The seller allowed me to photograph the knife.

It appears identical to the New York Knife Co. hanging display knives.

Great knives, Robin, Trand, and Charlie! Thanks for sharing.

Here is an old HSB pruner. If your squint real hard you can just make out the OVB etch.

I'm pretty sure this HSB is a NYK, etched faintly OVB on the blade.
