our very own black list?

Some of the personal freedoms ,such as knife carry, will eventually
be removed due to an increase in the number of humans on the planet.
The ability to carry any tool that can be a weapon. will be largly curtailed
in all the but third world countries where they still use cutlery for hunting
and such. The governments of the devoloped world will take the view that it's
citinzery will be much easier to control without any means to make trouble.

So get used to opening things with your teeth again:mad: Cause your
carry days are numbered:grumpy: :grumpy:

Google.com, the search engine won't accept advertising from knife companies who sell balisongs. Also a long story that I've told before on the forums.

Don't be too hard on the museums. It doesn't take much for a terrorist or vandal to do lots of damage to paintings, or for a thief to cut one out of it's frame. It's been known to happen.

Tracer-san: I noticed your sig. Seems like the US politician and corporations are already chanting with all these f***ing rules and metal detectors coming up.
For once I'm glad that I'm in Canada. I've yet to see a place that I walk in where I would be searched and/or metal detectored.

It was mentioned in another thread, but worth mentioning here. What can't be eliminated by confiscatory legislation, sheeple will seek to have eliminated via "corporate policy."

Georgia has a bill that looks like it might pass next year to address that very thing. If a private company wants to ban knives or legal guns they MUST provide storage and the COMPANY is liable for any loss of the property. There is also a bill that hasn't gotten out of committee to make a private company liable if you are injured and your confiscated item could have helped you.

The NRA is strongly backing these types of bills. You might want to contact them to see if they are planning anything in your state.

Finally, if it's not illegal, the heck with rent-a-cops! Sneak it in or let them "confiscate" a cheap knife then file theft by taking charges. Just the threat of that made them leave me alone in a couple of places.

Does someone have some more detailed information on the Amtrak situation? I'm heading off on a cross-country train trip in a few weeks, and would hate to have troulbe at the gate. The Amtrak web site offers no guidance on the subject.

That Amtrak situation sounds wierd. How did the conductors know a knife was being carried? I just came back from a trip to DC on Amtrak. Left NYC on July 6, came back on July 14. Had a Benchmade 940 clipped in my right pocket, a Leatherman Wave on my belt above my left hip pocket, and a Busse Assault Shaker in my fanny pack. No problems. I wore my T-shirt untucked from my shorts though, so it covered the Wave and the BM. However, I didn't see any signs nor came across any searches or metal detectors of any sort. The only change I noticed from travelling on Amtrak this past Christmas and just now was that they announced a new baggage policy where you're limited to 2 carry ons, each under a certain size and weight limit and that they should be labeled. However, I didn't see much enforcement of this either.

Be discreet with your knives in public as always, and I think you won't have much problem.

I really have to emotions when it comes to this issue. It makes me sad to see people working against a universal right. But just it makes me angry when knife owners are just indifferent! There are enough voices in the pro-freedom body to make changes, all they have to do is move off their butts.

But any way that is polititcal material.

As for knife friendly places for me that would be school, both old and new, where I work, movie theaters, the list goes on and on.

When it comes to places that don't allow knives my game plan is usually to take one anyway.:D If I'm confronted, then I just ask them if I can keep it and if not why. It usually works.

Glad to oblige -- when you come to Toronto, I will treat you to a pair of tickets to see the "majestic" Blue Jays at the Skydome! ;)

Your backpack, belly-pack, purse, etc. WILL be searched.

I haven't run into any theaters that had problems with knives. Which ones are they and do they post a sign and have metal detectors?

Runs With Scissors,

I'm flying through Anchorage in about two weeks with blades and firearms for an outdoor trip. If you have any special tips on how to get them through that airport with minimal problems, I'd be grateful. I'm Dave at swsurgical@hotmail.com .

Thanks for any advice you can offer.
