Two bucks eating the fallen chestnuts, in my backyard. They let me open the window and slide the screen open. I could hear their teeth chomping on the hard nuts. (the line is my Pitbull's slide run, she was asleep in her dog house and not concerned about the deer)

If you only had a compound or crossbow you could've been eating venison right now.

Bucks? What are those? All I see are Doe? Our Dog chased one out of the garden this morning at day break. :D

 Thanks for sharing the image with us Jill.

No, they are both young bucks, the one that you can see his head is a 4 or 5 pointer. The other is smaller.

Sorry I wasn't clear.:)

What I meant was, I see Deer almost everyday and all I see are Doe and the very young around here.
Even with a Game Camera running most of the time, it is rare to see a Buck in the last 5 to 10 years.
I see more Black Bear than Buck.

Cool pic, Jill!
Was kinda' waitin' for the other one though. :D

Doug :)

There was a huge buck I shot at last day of gun season last year, about 100 yards down from where those two are. He had his nose in a doe's rump and didn't see me. I took 2 shots at him as he went through some brush and I missed him.
The rack on that buck was thick beamed, wide and tall. Looked like a classic 12 pointer, or better.

I hope you waited until he was done. :D

Nice slice of heaven you living on Jill! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Here's a shot from the side of my yard (back in May of this year) Where the deer are in the first picture is over to the left from where I stood taking this shot. (what can I say I love the place)

Great pics, sounds like you practice a little deer management.

I woke up to snow this morning and it's still coming down, leaving me with mixed emotions.:thumbdn::D:confused:

Out here we only count one side but it is getting so we say 4x4 or what the rack looks like; when I was reading Jill's thread I looked out and there are deer all over my yard; we have apple trees and they come in for them and the flowers and the bushes and the trees and.... mostly mule deer but the last couple of years have been getting whitetails, too. They share the bounty with the pheasants, ducks, squirrels, etc. an odd goose or two once in a while; have had a few antelope in the past but not lately. Early winter here, seems like January with all the snow/cold but going over the mountain after elk this week so maybe the snow will bring them down. Nice pictures, Jill
